Chapter 20
Cassandra nodded. “Yeah! What a coincidence this is.”
She knew Tristan was meeting his friends tonight.
Suddenly, his gaze wandered to her hand and its reddened skin that was still visible under the dim lights.
Frowning, he felt a little frustrated. He questioned, “How did you get hurt?”
After a pause, she hid her hand and replied awkwardly, “I spilled some hot tea.”
She wondered if Clara had intentionally served her boiling hot tea. It was too hot for consumption.
Without another word, Tristan took her hand and ran it under cold water at the nearby sink. He looked fully focused as if her hand were a treasured item.
His warm hand held her wrist tightly.
The cold water was refreshing against the back of her hand, but her face burned with embarrassment.
“Does it hurt?” he asked in a low voice, his gaze never once leaving her hand.
She shook her head. “No.”
In truth, she felt a prickling pain, but it was not a big deal after she saw him so focused on her wound.
He furrowed his brow. “Why are you so careless? The tea was hot.”
She wanted to suggest that Clara might have intentionally served the hot tea to scald her, but she held her tongue in the end as she didn’t want to worry him.
She ultimately brushed it off. “Maybe the waiter didn’t pay attention to the temperature.”
He gave her an unreadable look. Turning off the he pulled out a navy handkerchief from his pocket and gently dried her hand.
“We have burn aid cream at home. Can you leave now? We’ll go home,” he said.
She sighed. “No, I can’t leave just yet. Mr. Hawk hasn’t signed the contract.‘
Russell Hawk was a difficult character for sure, but she had to get this done today. She didn’t want Aidan to find excuses for the delay in signing their agreement.
Tristan frowned. He couldn’t believe that Cassandra hadn’t gotten Russell to sign the contract after an hour of dinner, during which she hurt her hand.
His expression crumpled. “I’ll ask Liam to take care of that for you.”
To him, Russell was nothing. Russell would definitely sign the contract as he was asked to.
“Is that allowed? By the way, I thought you were having dinner with friends. You should go!” she urged him.
“We’re done with dinner.” He cast her a calm look. “Come on. Let’s go home.”
This time, he sounded firm and wouldn’t take no for an answer. She had to go with him.
After they got into the car, Tristan called Liam and updated him on the situation. He requested Liam to head over and take care of things.
Cassandra felt a little sorry and made a mental note to thank Liam properly the next time they met.
At the same time, Ethan Hughes and his friends were toasting in their private dining room. A
empty bottles lay on the table.
“By the way, where’s Tristan? Why isn’t he here yet? He’s the one who started this and even picked the
“Yeah. Is his lover here?”
“Forget about that. I suspect he’s gay. I’ve never seen a woman by his side over these years except Lily.”
Everyone started to speak
Ethan downed a glass of wine. Then, he carelessly assured them. “Don’t worry. I just called Tristan. I think he’s at the entrance–probably held back by something.”
Soon, the guys started to have fun. It never occurred to them that they had been stood up by their friend, Tristan, who had put his woman before his friends. They siniled gleefully, waiting for Tristan to foot their bills,
