Chapter 24
Aidan pressed his lips together, glanced at the agreement, and said through gritted teeth, “Cassandra, I hope you don’t end up regretting this.”
Cassandra gave a faint smile. “Don’t worry. I absolutely won’t.”
Aidan angrily signed the document.
Clara, who was watching from the side, let out a breath of relief. She didn’t want them to be tangled up anymore. Mrs. Ziegler’s spot could only belong to her.
“I expect the payment to be made within three days and for this matter to be settled,” Cassandra said coldly.
“Don’t push your luck, Cassandra. One day, you’ll regret this. Do you really think you’re all that just because you left me?” Aidan snapped.
Cassandra found it ridiculous. Aidan’s arrogance really knew no bounds.
“Great. Let’s just wait and see then.” With that, Cassandra started packing her things. Her handover was complete. There was no reason to stay any longer.
Upon seeing this, Aidan let out a snort and stormed off. While pretending to be kind, Clara said, “Good luck, Cass.”
Then, she walked away, smug and satisfied.
Cassandra gave them a small smile. She was thrilled to leave this toxic place. After finishing up, she went to visit her grandmother.

Soon, it was the weekend. Tristan was taking Cassandra home. She was nervous. This moment had finally come. Sooner or later, even the awkward daughter–in- law had to meet the in–laws.
She packed the gifts she’d prepared ahead of time, then got into the car with anxious anticipation.
The car drove into a high–end residential area and eventually pulled up in front of a stately courtyard–style manor. As Cassandra got out of the car and looked at the elegant yet traditional building in front of her, she couldn’t help but feel awed.
“This is your house?” she asked, unable to hold back.
Sure enough, the gap between people could be downright brutal.
Cassandra had been to the Ziegler family estate and thought that the mansion was impressive. But compared to this courtyard–style manor, it didn’t even come close. It easily got blown out of the water.
Tristan smiled, his tone casual as he said, “This is our home. Come on. Everyone’s waiting for you. They can’t wait to meet you.”
She nodded, though her nerves only grew. Then, she took a deep breath and followed him into the courtyard.
As soon as they stepped inside, a graceful middle–aged woman walked up to them. She wore a simple evening gown, had a gentle smile on her face, and gave Cassandra a once–over before nodding in approval.
“This must be Cassandra?” Julia Durham asked warmly, her voice full of kindness.
Tristan nodded. “Mom, this is Cassandra. Cassie, this is my mother.”
Cassandra quickly stepped forward and said politely, “Hello, Mrs. Freeman. I’m Cassandra Callum.”
Julia smiled and took her hand, her voice soft and welcoming. “Young lady, there’s no need to be
Cassandra felt a little flustered by her warmth but obediently nodded. “Okay… Mom.”
So formal. We’re family now. Just call me Mom.”
Julia beamed, clearly pleased, and took her hand as she led her toward the living room. “Come in and sit. Your dad and grandpa are waiting for you.” Julia couldn’t have been happier. Her son had finally grown up and brought home such a wonderful daughter–in–law.
