Rachel’s Pov
My heart pounded as I rushed down the hospital hallway, my mind spinning with what I had just heard.
Susan wasn’t pregnant.
She had been lying this whole time. But why? What was she trying to achieve?
I needed to tell Xavier.
I weaved through the hospital corridors, glancing over my shoulder, afraid Susan would come after me.
My hands were clammy, and my breath came in short, shallow bursts.
When I reached the waiting area where Xavier stood with my grandparents, I grabbed his
wrist.
“We need to go. Now,” I whispered urgently.
Xavier’s brows furrowed. “Rachel, what’s wrong?”
I shook my head. “Not here. Just trust me.”
He didn’t hesitate. He wrapped his arm around my waist and guided me out of the hospital, his grip firm and protective.
As soon as we were inside the car, I locked the doors and exhaled sharply. Xavier turned to me, concern etched into his features. “Rachel, talk to me.”
I swallowed hard, still shaken. “I overheard Susan talking to a doctor.”
His eyes darkened. “And?”
“She’s not pregnant.”
Xavier’s expression shifted from confusion to shock. “What?”
I nodded frantically. “She was demanding that the doctor give her something to make her bleed. She wants to fake a miscarriage.”
Xavier cursed under his breath, running a hand through his hair.
“That lying-“He cut himself off, his jaw tightening.
I exhaled shakily. “Why would she do this? Why fake a pregnancy in the first place?” Xavier’s gaze darkened. “To trap Michael. To secure her place in his family. And now that she’s probably running out of time, she’s trying to stage a miscarriage to gain sympathy.” I shuddered. “She’s manipulating everyone.”
Xavier’s expression was unreadable for a moment, then he reached for my hand. “We can use this against her.”
I hesitated. “How?”
A slow smirk formed on his lips. “If we expose her, Michael and his family will turn against

I bit my lip. “But we need proof.”
Xavier nodded. “We’ll get it. You said she was threatening the doctor, right? That means he’s scared. We just have to make him talk.”
I exhaled deeply. “And what if Susan finds out that I know?”
Xavier’s expression hardened. “She won’t. Because we’ll strike frot
His words sent a shiver down my spine, but I trusted him.
Just then, my phone buzzed.
I glanced at the screen. It was an unknown number.
Frowning, I answered. “Hello?”
A distorted voice spoke on the other end. “If you know what’s good for you, stay out of things that don’t concern you.”
My blood ran cold.
Xavier noticed the change in my expression. “Rachel? Who is it?”
I couldn’t speak. My throat had gone dry.
The voice continued, “You’ve been snooping around too much. Stop now, or you’ll regret
The line went dead.
My hands shook as I lowered the phone. “Someone knows,” I whispered.
Xavier’s face darkened dangerously. “Who was that?”
I shook my head. “I don’t know, but… they know I overheard Susan.”
His jaw clenched. “That means they’re watching us.”
A chill ran down my spine.
Xavier took my phone and checked the number. “It’s untraceable.” He exhaled sharply, then turned to me. “Rachel, you’re not alone in this. I won’t let anything happen to you.”
I nodded, trying to steady my breathing. “What do we do now?”
Xavier’s eyes gleamed with determination. “We set a trap.”
I swallowed hard. “A trap?”
He smirked, but there was no humor in it. “Susan thinks she’s in control. Let’s show her she’s not.”

Back at Xavier’s estate, I paced the room, my mind running wild.
I couldn’t shake the feeling of unease. Someone had warned me to back off. But who?
Xavier sat on the couch, his eyes sharp with focus. “We need to hit her where it hurts,” he said. “If she’s faking this pregnancy, there has to be something more she’s hiding.”
I sighed. “How do we even get the doctor to talk?”
Xavier’s smirk returned. “We apply pressure.”
I hesitated. “Xavier…”
“I won’t hurt him,” he assured me. “But we can make him nervous enough to spill the truth.”
A knock at the door startled me.
Xavier stood, his posture immediately tense. “Stay here,” he murmured before striding over and opening the door.
It was his butler.
“Sir,” the butler said in a low voice. “We’ve secured the doctor.”
My heart skipped a beat. “Wait–what do you mean, ‘secured‘?”
Xavier turned to me. “He’s in the study. We need to hear what he knows.”
I followed Xavier down the hallway, my hands clenched into fists.
We entered the study, and my eyes landed on the doctor–Dr. Collins.
He was sitting in a chair, his hands trembling.
“Dr. Collins,” Xavier greeted smoothly, closing the door behind us. “I hear you’ve been treating Susan.”
The doctor swallowed hard. “I–I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
stepped forward. “I heard everything, doctor. You told Susan she wasn’t pregnant. You said it was dangerous to fake a miscarriage.”
Dr. Collins paled. “You misunderstood-”

“Don’t lie,” Xavier cut in sharply. His voice was calm, but there was an edge to it that made even me shiver.
The doctor wiped his forehead. “I–I had no choice. She threatened me”
Xavier leaned forward. “Then tell us the truth. How long has she been lying?”
Dr. Collins hesitated, then sighed heavily. “Since the beginning.”
I clenched my fists. “So she was never pregnant?”
“No.” He shook his head. “She came to me with fake test results and told me to go along with it. She said if I didn’t, she’d ruin my career”
I exchanged a glance with Xavier. We finally had proof.
Xavier smirked, “You did the right thing telling us, doctor”
Dr. Collins looked nervous. “Please… just don’t tell anyone I was involved.”
Xavier nodded. “That depends on how useful you continue to be.”
