Chapter 5 – Claiming My Inheritance
“Goodbye, Susan,” I said to her.
Susan refused to move and I got upset. I already received a text message that my flight has been rescheduled. I couldn’t afford to miss it again.
And I desperately wanted to be away from these people. Why was she deliberately goading me?
“What do you want?” I queried.
Susan smirked, “I want to see you cry.”
I scoffed, “Too bad. That’s not happening.”
As I dragged my box, Susan tossed a couple of dollar bills at me.
“Use this for your fare,” she giggled.
I lost it and before I could think, I gave her a resounding slap.
“How dare you?” I hissed at her.
Susan let out a loud cry just as Micheal and Ivan came rushing into the hospital room.
“What did you do, Racheal?” Micheal yelled when he saw Susan’s swollen cheeks.
I scoffed, “What did I do? You heard her scream and you came running. Where were you when your son injured me? Where were you when I passed out from blood loss?”
“Bad woman!” Ivan cried, “She’s hurt Susan.”
“It’s not her fault, Ivan. I came to beg her to stay and she refused so I offered her money and she slapped me,” Susan cried pitifully.
“Stop this madness, Susan, stop playing the fucking victim!” I snapped.
“No you stop this, Rachel!” Micheal shot at me, “I’ve indulged you for too long. I will take you back as long as you apologize to Susan.”
I stared at him then burst into laughter, “Even if you were the last man on earth, Micheal, I will never be with you.”
“What is that supposed to mean? How dare you?” Micheal thundered.
“For eight years and you never wanted a child only for me to find out on the same day your son shot me that Susan is pregnant for you,” I stated.
Micheal cast a quick look at Susan almost like he was silently asking her why she told me
about it.
“We can talk about that later. Just come back home and we can resolve this issue,” Micheal said to me.
I scoffed, “In your dreams, Mister.”
I turned and walked away from him while he kept yelling that I shouldn’t walk away from him but I ignored him.

I but ignored him.
A few minutes later, I arrived at the airport and made it in time for my flight.
Just as I was checked in and asked to turn off my phone it rang.
It was Micheal calling and I reluctantly picked the call.
“What do you want?” I snapped.

“I understand you’re upset about Susan’s pregnancy. Come home and give me a child so I’ll add your name to my will and you can have a good life with your child,” Micheal said.
I scoffed, “Go to hell, Micheal.”
Then without giving him a chance to reply, I hung up and blocked his number.
The flight was long and I slept halfway through the journey but I was relieved when the plane finally landed.
I stepped into the arrivals hall with my boxes and I saw a well–dressed man in tuxedo holding a placard that said: Rachel Blake.
I walked toward the man and he recognized me from a glance.
“Miss Blake, I’m Tony. Your personal guard,” he introduced himself.
I nodded, “Thank you.”
He took my luggage and loaded it inside the car before opening the back seat for me.
I entered and relaxed in the plush leather seat of the SUV. Soon we drove off and arrived at a big mansion.
This was the house of my grandparents, John and Linda Blake.
Their company was the biggest company in San Francisco and I was their sole heiress.
Three years ago they reached out to me and told me they’re my mother’s parents. My mother was supposed to marry someone else but out of love she eloped with my father and abandoned her family.
However unknown to me that when my mother was sick with cancer she had reached out to them and told them of my existence.
And when they reached out to me to come and take over because I was still very much in love with Micheal and thought I could win his heart I rejected their offer.
“Rachel! Welcome home,” My grandmother’s voice sounded.
She and her husband came outside and enveloped me in a big hug.
“We’re so glad you’re here,” they said to me.
I smiled, “Thank you for agreeing to accept me.”
My grandmother smiled, “Nonsense, Rachel, everything here belongs to you.”
My grandfather nodded, “Yes, Rachel. You’re now the new heiress of The Blake Empire.”
I smiled.
Because now is the time for paybacks.
