Wendy finally smiled. “It’s a deal!”
Evan quickly signed the contract with Wendy, then looked up at Dion. “This is just the beginning. If you don’t want things to escalate, I suggest you return my sister to me.”
Dion let out a light laugh, but the smile in his eyes was completely devoid of warmth. “It’s not that I don’t want to, but your sister doesn’t want to see you.”
These words struck deep into Evan and Drake’s hearts and they were immediately filled with fury. “Why wouldn’t Narissa want to see us? You must have said something to her!”
Drake’s face darkened, a trace of malice flashing in his eyes. His tone dripped with contempt and smugness as he spoke, “Dion, I’ve known Narissa since we were children, we’ve been inseparable for years. You can’t compare to the bond we share in just a year or two.” The smile on Dion’s face disappeared completely. He repeated the words in a cold, measured tone, “Childhood friend? Inseparable?”
He suddenly lifted his gaze, locking eyes with the two of them, his voice chilling, “But why did you put a price tag on her, listing her on a website?”
Drake scoffed, sneering, “What do you know? We’re just trying to find her faster.”
At that moment, Evan spoke up, her voice filled with urgency, “Mr. Ashford, Narissa is my sister. No one is more worried about her than I am. If we could, we wouldn’t want things to escalate to the point of no return. I just hope that you can return her to me, considering I’m Narissa’s brother.”
Dion’s expression remained unchanged, but his voice turned cold and biting. “You spent your sources on the internet, hiring strangers to track down Evan, stirring up extreme thoughts in countless people, leading to multiple kidnapping attempts on her. If it weren’t for me, she might have already met with disaster. And all of this, everything she’s gone through, is because of you. How can you still have the nerve to say you’re worried about her?”
Evan was momentarily stunned, his face pale. But Drake, enraged, clenched his fists tightly, his body taut like an angry lion. “Kidnapping? If it weren’t for your interference, she would have been back with us long ago.”
Dion didn’t respond further. But after the banquet, it was Evan who reached out to him. [I appreciate all the care you’ve given to Narissa these past two years. At this point, you’re considered my brother–in–law. But now, all I want is to see her for just a moment.]
Dion ignored this message. The number had originally been for work, but now it was repeatedly flooded with texts. [My father has terminal stomach cancer and is close to death. He has held on this long just to see Narissa once. If you truly love her, you shouldn’t let her regret this.]
Dion had asked Narissa about it and her only response was a cold laugh. “I won’t go to see
him and I will never regret it.”

Dion had asked Narissa about it and her only response was a cold laugh. “I won’t
him and I will never regret it.”
Dion soothed her, his voice calm and firm. “If you don’t want to go, then don’t. Don’t worry,
with me here, no one can harm you.”
His attitude only made the tension between the Ashford, Kingsley and Sterling families ever sharper. The Sterling Family spared no expense, repeatedly blocking Ashford Family projects and even teaming up with others in an attempt to suppress the Ashford Family.
Evan had tried reasoning with him several times, but when he saw Dion wouldn’t listen, his expression grew colder. “I suggest you think carefully, or this will just be the beginning.”
Dion remained unfazed. To him, it was also the beginning. Since they were looking for
trouble, he wouldn’t hold back.
But like maddened wild dogs, they continued to provoke him. Drake repeatedly threatened
“You’d better back off, or I’ll make sure you hand Narissa over.”
He even called the police to demand that the Ashford Family hand her over. In response, Narissa severed ties with the Sterling Family, casting a cold glance at Evan and Drake in the
distance.
“I hope Mr. Sterling and Mr. Kingsley will no longer interfere with my life. Otherwise, I will
have no choice but to take further action.”
