Drake’s eyes reddened as he looked at her. “Narissa, do you know how long we’ve been searching for you? How could you do this to me and your brother?”
Evan’s face turned pale, filled with sorrow. “Narissa, I know you’re angry with me. At that time, I didn’t know anything. If I had known earlier, I would never have treated you that way. Now, I’ve already sent Liora and her mom to prison. At least for this reason, could you go back and visit Dad? He’s been waiting for you for so long.”
Narissa remained unmoved as Evan continued to speak about how her departure had caused her father to become so devastated, even drinking excessively to the point of depression and eventually developing stomach cancer.
“Narissa, I’m begging you, come back home. Give me a chance to make amends. You have no idea how many times I’ve dreamt that you died over these past two years. It’s all my fault. I promised Mom I would take care of you, but I still let you get hurt. I’m so sorry, Narissa.”
Hearing her silence, Drake tried to step forward but was stopped by a group of people. He suppressed his impatience, his voice full of urgency as he spoke, “Narissa, I know you must be deeply disappointed in me, but you have to understand, it was all because of that woman. She seduced me and that’s why I made a mistake.”
“As long as you come back, I don’t mind the child you’re carrying. I swear I will treat you well,” Drake continued.
Narissa nearly laughed in anger. “I never asked you to find me. When I was abroad, I almost died because of you. If you had any conscience, you wouldn’t have come looking for me.”
Both of them reddened at the eyes upon hearing this. Evan closed his eyes and looked up for a moment, then steadied himself and said, “Narissa, are you happy now?”
Narissa smiled, her eyes filled with joy. “Of course, I am very happy. It would be even better if you two could disappear completely from my life.”
Both Evan and Drake were taken aback. They never expected Narissa to say such heart–wrenching words.

Drake’s expression darkened and he stared at Dion with barely contained fury. “It’s all because of him. He must be the one who bewitched you, making you turn against your family.”
He was so enraged that he nearly lunged forward, but Evan stopped him. Closing his eyes for a moment, he sighed. “Drake, enough. As long as Narissa is happy, nothing else matters.”
With that, he turned his gaze to Dion. “In the days I won’t be around, you need to take good care of my sister. If you ever hurt her, I will make you pay the price.”
Dion’s lips curled into a slight smirk, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “I will take care of my wife. No need for you to worry about it.”
Drake looked at Evan in disbelief. “What are you doing? Didn’t we agree that we would take.

Drake looked at Evan in disbelief. “What are you doing? Didn’t we agree that we would take Narissa back?”
Evan’s face turned pale and hearing this, he gave a bitter smile. “But Narissa doesn’t want to. She says she’s happy, so from now on, I won’t interfere in their relationship.”
Drake was practically seething with rage. “Have you lost your mind? Are you really going to hand Narissa over to this scoundrel? Do you know how long he made us search for her?”
“I know,” Evan responded calmly, his voice firm. “But Narissa is happy. As long as she’s happy, I won’t stop her. If he ever dares to hurt her, the Sterling Family will never let him get
away with it.”
Not long after, Elowen passed away. Before he died, he left most of his assets to Narissa. A video of his final moments was leaked shortly after his death.
On his deathbed, Elowen looked frail, his face marked by age and his eyes filled with tears. “Narissa, I remember when you were a little girl. Your mother loved you so much, but I failed to take care of you. It’s my fault, my mistake.”
He passed away with his eyes still open, unable to find peace, tears lingering in his gaze. The video of his final moments was leaked online and many people began to harshly
criticize Narissa, accusing her of being cold–hearted and ungrateful.
