“Stay inside,” Hans ordered as he adjusted his jacket.
Stood near the window, staring out at the commotion just beyond the gates. Adrian’s shouting was audible
from here, his voice laced with rage. “Felicity! Come out! Don’t hide behind Hans!”
I clenched my fists, anger and fear swirling within me. I’m not going to hide,” I said, stepping toward the door.
Hans turned sharply, his eyes locking onto mine. “No,” he said flatly. “Let me handle this. You don’t need to face
him.”
“He’s here because of me,” I argued. “I can’t just sit here and do nothing.”
“Felicity.” Hans’s tone softened, but his resolve didn’t waver. “Let me deal with him. Trust me on this.”
I hesitated, my chest tightening. His calm confidence was reassuring, but it didn’t quell the storm brewing inside me. Finally, I nodded. “Be careful,” I whispered.
He gave me a small, reassuring smile before stepping out, flanked by his bodyguards.
Minutes felt like hours as I paced the room, the tension growing with every second. I glanced at the clock
repeatedly, willing time to move faster or for Hans to come back and tell me it was over.
But the shouting outside continued, muffled and indistinct. I strained to hear, my imagination running wild with
worst–case scenarios,
Then, a commotion broke out–a loud clatter, followed by the unmistakable sound of a gunshot
The world seemed to stop. My breath caught, and my heart pounded in my chest. “No,” I whispered, frozen for a
moment before the panic set in.
I ran toward the door, ignoring the protests of the bodyguards stationed to keep me inside
“Ms. Felicity, please stay here-
“Move!” I shouted, pushing past them and running toward the source of the chaos.
The scene outside was chaos. Men were shouting, the police swarmed the area, and my eyes searched frantically for Hans. My vision blurred with tears as I pushed through the crowd, my heart sinking with every step.
Finally, I saw him.
Hans was on the ground, his shirt stained with blood. His face was pale, but he was conscious, barely. Adrian was being dragged away by the police, shouting incoherently
“Get an ambulance!” I screamed, falling to my knees beside Hans.
He looked up at me, his usual confident smirk replaced with a faint, pained smile. “You’re… supposed to s
inside,” he muttered weakly

Tears streamed down my face as I took his hand, squeezing it tightly “Don’t talk. Save your strength. Help is
coming *
The bodyguards moved quickly, calling for medical assistance and trying to manage the chaos around us. I stayed by Hans’s side, refusing to leave him for even a second.
At the hospital, the waiting felt unbearable. I sat in the sterile white corridor, my mind racing as I replayed the events in my head.
One of Hans’s men approached cautiously. “Ms. Felicity,” he began, his tone low and apologetic.
danded when it’s tootate
“What happened?” I demanded, my voice trembling with anger and fear.
“Adrian pulled a gun during the argument,” the man explained. “Hans tried to disarm him, but there was a struggle. The shot went off before we could stop it.”
I closed my eyes, trying to steady my breathing Fury bubbled inside me, hot and overwhelming. Adrian was in jail now, awaiting charges, but it didn’t feel like enough. Not yet.
“If Hans doesn’t make it…” My voice broke, and I swallowed hard, blinking back tears. “Adrian will pay. I’ll make
sure of it”
The man nodded solemnly, stepping back to give me space.
Hours later, I sat by Hans’s bedside, watching the steady rise and fall of his chest. The doctor had assured me he would recover, but seeing him like this–pale and vulnerable–stirred something deep inside me.
I reached out, brushing a strand of hair from his forehead. He stirred slightly, his eyes fluttering open.
“Felicity,” he murmured, his voice barely audible.
“I’m here,” I said softly, my hand still resting on his.
“You didn’t have to…” He trailed off, his eyes closing again.
“Don’t talk,” I whispered. “Just rest”
As I sat there, the weight of everything hit me all at once. Hans had been the only one to treat me with kindness. and respect the only one who had stood by me when everyone else had turned against me
I didn’t know when it happened, but somewhere along the way, my feelings for him had changed. It wasn’t just gratitude anymore. It was something deeper, something I didn’t want to lose.
Hans hadn’t stirred in days, his face pale against the hospital sheets. I sat beside him, refusing to leave, even for
a moment. The steady rhythm of the heart monitor was the only sound in the room, a constant reminder that he was
still here, still fighting.
I adjusted the blanket over him, brushing a stray hair from his forehead. I leaned back in the chair, glancing at the television mounted in the corner of the room. The news was on, the anchor reporting updates on Adrian’s trial
The footage showed Adrian being led into court, his face gaunt and his eyes wild. He looked nothing like the
man I had once thought I loved.
*Disgraced CEO Adrian Rose faces multiple charges, including fraud, embezzlement, and illegal business dealings,” the anchor said. “If convicted, he could face a lengthy prison sentence.”
They cut to a clip of Adrian shouting as officers restrained him. His words were incoherent, his demeanor
frantic.

“He’s finally unraveling.” I muttered, scoffing as I reached for the remote and turned off the television.
My thoughts shifted back to Hans. Adrian was no longer my concern. Hans was the only thing that mattered
Eventually, hunger got the better of me. I glanced at Hans one last time before stepping out of the room. The VIP bodyguards Hans had stationed outside gave me a respectful nod.
“I’m just going to grab some food from the cafeteria,” I told them. “Let me know if anything happens.”
They nodded again.
The hospital cafeteria was quiet. I grabbed a sandwich and a cup of coffee, my mind wandering as I waited
in line. But just as I was about to head back to Hans’s room, a familiar voice from the television near the cafeteria stopped me in my tracks.
“Breaking news,” the anchor said. “Former CEO Adrian Rose, who was awaiting trial on multiple charges, has reportedly escaped custody.”
