Chapter 5%
Oliver stretched out his little hand and subconsciously wanted to touch the scar, but he hesitated and pulled it back.
Franklin held my wrist tightly, his voice hoarse and his eyes full of disbelief, “How could it be…?“}
But then he let go of my hand and returned to his contemptuous expression as he said, “Jenna, even if you had a miscarriage, so what? Do you think you can get sympathy from me and Oliver by playing the victim?}
“This is all retribution for what you have done. I have found evidence that you poisoned Myrna before the competition. If you continue to do this, you will lose more than just one child!”
As soon as these words were spoken, the guests present were suddenly in an uproar.
My mother–in–law and father–in–law pounded their chests and almost fainted from anger.
The classmates who participated in the competition with me that year were full of confusion.
“What competition? You mean the opera audition?”
“Yes.” Franklin showed disdain, “Jenna is too embarrassed to tell you all if she put drugs in the water she handed to Myrna.“}
“That’s not right!” the monitor interrupted him, “The water was prepared by the theater and Jenna was only responsible for distributing it
us.”
hers echoed.}
Yeah, we were fine after drinking, so why did Myrna’s voice become hoarse?“>
Franklin was speechless for a moment, his face gradually turning blue.}
But he still did not give up, frowning and saying, “Jenna, you are really good at it. You can make so many people speak for you.“>
At this moment, his assistant hurriedly pushed the door open and said, “Mr. Dorsey, I found the backstage surveillance video at that time.”} Franklin hurriedly asked him, “Have you found evidence that Jenna poisoned Myrna?“}
“No.” The assistant said with trembling lips, facing Franklin’s increasingly ugly face, “But we did capture… the whole process of Miss Haynes deliberately slandering Mrs. Dorsey.”
Franklin’s pupils suddenly shrank and his whole body froze in place. After a long while, he spoke with difficulty, “Why… didn’t you tell me?“}]
I could not help but find it funny because I had clearly explained these facts to him thousands of times.}
He himself refused to believe it, but then he was questioning me?>
I was too lazy to pay attention to him anymore, so I just handed him the divorce agreement and said, “Sign it!“}
Franklin looked up at me blankly, as if he could not believe that I was innocent.}
After a long while, he gritted his teeth and said, “Even if you didn’t poison Myrna, do you dare to say that you were not wrong in drugging me before?!“}
Oliver seemed to have found his backbone and he agreed sharply, “That’s right! If it weren’t for you, a bad woman, interfering, Dad would have been with Aunt Myrna a long time ago!“}]
I stared at them coldly without saying a word.
“I was the one who drugged you,” Franklin’s mother closed her eyes tiredly, her tone sad as she admitted. “After Myrna left for abroad, you were like a ghost–so empty, so lost. It was Jenna who stayed by your side day and night.
“I watched her grow up… how could I not feel sorry for her? But I let my pity cloud my judgment. I never imagined that my obsession would lead to such a terrible mistake.“>
Franklin’s father also pointed at his nose and scolded, “Franklin, you really disappoint me! Have you forgotten the oath you made in front of Jenna’s parents? You promised them that you would take good care of Jenna and would not let her suffer any grievances.
“But look, she’s been heartbroken every time because of you. Do you know that because of you, she will never be able to sing again in her life?”
Franklin’s father poked Oliver’s forehead with a look of dismay, “And you, evil creature. Your mother took care of you wholeheartedly, but you treat her like this? You two are such beasts!“}
