Chapter Ten
Chapter Ten
I spent the next couple of days adjusting to my new life, my new routine. Inspecting all my properties, reviewing every document under my name. It was exhausting, but necessary.
David, now the family‘ s accountant, walked me through the finances. It was easier than I expected, though I knew it was because he had organized everything meticulously.
Just as I was finishing up for the day, a message popped up from my manager at the jewelry store. A couple had purchased one of the most expensive and luxurious ring pieces. I had to present it in person.
That was one of the personal touches I learned from Mr. Farleigh; VIP clients appreciated exclusivity.
“I have to go and oversee something at the jewelry store. Can we pick up from where

we left off later?” I asked David, setting
aside the documents.
“Yeah, sure. I’ll be here when you‘ re back,” he replied with a smile.
He stood up, kissed my cheek and left. I wasn’t surprised. I see the way he looks at me. Only problem is, I’m not ready for that right now.
I got ready and left, arriving at Eterna Luxe about twenty minutes before the couple was scheduled to arrive.
My office was just above the entrance of the store, so, it gave me a perfect view of the street below.
I was going through some reports when a sleek black car pulled up. Something about it made my breath hitch.
And then, they stepped out.
Zack and Serena.
“How did I over look this?!” I panicked.

My fingers stiffened around the pen I was holding. My heart pounded so hard I could hear it in my ears. Heat crawled up my body, despite the air conditioner, followed by an icy chill.
“Ms. Lena, the VIP clients are here,” my manager announced.
There was no escape. I had to face them.
I tried to steady my nerves. I sucked in a deep breath and straightened my dress. My hands were trembling.
“Lena, you are dead to them,” I whispered to myself.
“They don’t know you anymore,” I told myself as I walked down the stairs with the ring pieces finely decorated and boxed in my hands.
They just kept kissing and hugging each other, acting all lovey dovey as they waited for me. Serena had a maternity band on her hand, but her belly didn’t look like she was pregnant.

She liked to be extra. So, if she was wearing a maternity band, then, she was pregnant!
I swallowed the lump in my throat and walked towards them.
The moment they spotted me, their faces drained of color. They looked like they had seen a ghost… literally.
“Welcome to Eterna Luxe; the home of luxury!” I gestured with a big smile, forcing them up from their seats.
They remained frozen.
“When I heard about your order, I knew I had to present it myself,” I continued, placing the velvet box on the table beside
them.
“L..Lena?” Serena stammered.
Y–you‘ re alive? Y–You can see?”
She waved her hand in front of my face, as if testing my vision.
Zack just stood there, watching me like a

hawk.
I let out a soft chuckle. “I think you‘ re mistaken. I’m Alora, darling. But I get that a lot.”
I turned my attention to the rings, pretending not to notice their growing
unease.
“These rings are the best choice you could have possibly gone for. I brought them in different sizes so you two can pick out your perfect sizes. I noticed you had trouble picking on the website.”
Zack scoffed.
“Cut the act, Lena. I know it’s you. Why are you pretending? Your body was never found. It makes sense that you are alive.”
I met his gaze, clearly unbothered.
“I’ve been told that a lot of times, sir. But I’ve already made it clear that we don’t know each other. Now, shall we
continue?” I said in a more professional

Zack chuckled dryly. “What, are you ashamed you work in a jewelry store now?”
Shameless. Absolutely shameless.
He thought I was a sales rep. My manager must not have mentioned who I was.
I kept my expression neutral. “Please try the rings on. I have other clients arriving soon.”
Serena, though still unsure, slipped one of the rings onto her finger. “These fit perfectly.”
I reached out to take them for packaging, but in a sudden movement, Serena grabbed my collar and yanked it down.
I gasped, jerking back, but it was too late.
I knew what she was looking for.

a tattoo to avoid recognition.
“What’s the matter with you, miss?” I shrugged her off, quickly adjusting my blouse.
Serena’s face dropped. “I—I’m sorry. You just… you look exactly like my sister who passed away weeks ago.”
But inside, my chest burned. Because the sister she was pretending to be mourning was standing right in front of her.
