Chapter 11X
Third Person POV
“Sorry, the number you dialed is currently unavailable…”
The cold, robotic voice on the other end of the line made Magnus’s heart skip a beat.
“Her phone’s off? Why? he imitatingly wondered.
All the time he’d known Chelsea, she had never once turned off her phone. So where was she?%
Suddenly remembering what Miranda had said earlier, Magnus rushed to the wardrobe and yanked open the door.
It was neat as usual–but aside from his own clothes, there wasn’t a single piece of Chelsea’s left.”
A wave of unease rolled through him. He picked up his phone and tried calling her again, and again, and again.
But each time, the same message. Each time, the same crushing disappointment.
Finally, frustration exploded out of him. He threw the phone onto the bed with a sharp thud.
“Where the hell did she go?‘ he bellowed inwardly.
Just then, the bedroom door opened.
He quickly looked up, hope rising in his chest, only to see Sabrina standing in the doorway.
“Sabrina? What are you doing here?“}]
“You left in such a hurry. I was worried something might’ve happened, so I followed you over to check.”
Her eyes then drifted toward the empty bed and asked, “She’s not home?”
Magnus stayed silent.
“At this hour… where would she go?“!!
She tilted her head, genuinely wondering. Then he saw his eyes, flashing rage.l
“Oh, right–yesterday, that Mr. Malcom… The way he looked at Chelsea… It wasn’t ordinary. Honestly, it felt like ”
She didn’t finish the sentence, but she didn’t need to. Magnus’s clenched fists said it all.X
Seeing the change in him, Sabrina’s heart sank.!!
So, I was right. Magnus really isn’t the same man I once knew, she realized inwardly.
Back when he charged into that private room with no hesitation, she had a gut feeling–something about him had changed. She’d tried to convince herself it was all in her head. But now, three years later, it was painfully clear. Everything had changed.
Slowly, she reached out and wrapped her hands around his cold ones.
“Maybe this is actually a good thing,” she said softly. “We don’t have to waste time trying to find her. We can simply have someone follow them and take photos. As long as we catch her cheating while still married, her family’s shares will fall right into our hands.“%
Her grip tightened slightly. But Magnus’s hand twitched.
Right… He had forgotten his original plan–divorce, and the shares. Now, Chelsea had basically handed him the perfect opportunity.
So why… Why did the idea of catching her in bed with another man make his chest ache?!!
“Enough thinking, Magnus,” Sabrina whispered, brushing her fingers down his arm. I’s late. Let’s go to bed.”!!
Without waiting for a response, she began unbuttoning his shirt and led him back to bed–the bed he once shared with Chelsea.
The next morning, when Magnus woke, Sabrina was already up.
As he came downstairs, the strong smell of seafood in the air made him frown in annoyance.!!
“Miranda? Miranda he called, heading toward the kitchen.
But he stopped cold in the doorway.
Inside, it wasn’t the housekeeper–it was Sabrina, bustling around with her sleeves rolled up.
“You’re awake!” she said cheerfully when she saw him. Holding a bowl in her hands, she beamed. “Perfect timing–the seafood chowder’s ready!”
She carried it out to the dining table, gently set it down, and gestured for him to sit
“I haven’t cooked in a long time,” she said with a sweet smile, settling into the chair across from him. “Try Magnus stared at the steaming bowl of seafood chowder in front of him.
Try it and tell me how it tastes?”
His frown only deepened.
