Chapter 15%
Third Person POV
“Well, well, Mr. Colon, Calvert’s voice rang out casually from the doorway, breaking the tension in the room. “Didn’t expect you to be this… adventurous in broad daylight.”
Hearing his voice, Magnus’s expression darkened. He pushed Sabrina off his lap and shot Calvert a sharp glare.!!
“What are you doing here?”
“Delivering a little gift,” Calvert said cheerfully, strolling into the office like he owned the place. “I just saw the headlines about your wife. Gotta say, Mr. Colon, I misjudged you. You’re actually more interesting than I thought.”
“What the hell do you want?” Magnus clenched his fists, barely restraining himself.
“I already told you–I’m just dropping off a gift,” Calvert replied with a smirk, placing a sealed folder on the desk in front of Magnus. He slid it closer and then shot a pointed glance at Sabrina, who stood silently behind Magnus. A faint, knowing smile tugged at the comer of his lips.2
“Anyway, my job here’s done,” Calvert added casually, turning to leave. “The old man asked me to deliver it, so now I can wash my hands of this mess. Honestly, if it weren’t for the history between our families, I wouldn’t bother getting involved at all.
With that, he strolled out, leaving a heavy silence in his wake.!!
Magnus frowned, staring at the envelope on the desk. It was sealed tightly. What could possibly be inside?!!
But just as he reached for it, a new email notification popped up on his computer. His eyes froze when he saw the sender, Chelsea. Heart racing, he set the folder aside and clicked on the email. There were several attachments: compromising photos and video clips. His eyes widened as the files loaded.
The woman in them… was Sabrina.
“No… no, this can’t be real…” Sabrina’s voice trembled, and her face drained of all color. She hadn’t expected her past to surface like this. let alone in a message from Chelsea.
“Magnus, please, let me explain,” she rushed over and grabbed his hand. “This is all Chelsea’s doing. She’s jealous because you’re good to me. She wants to tear us apart!
She brought his hand to her chest, voice dripping with desperation. “I love you, Magnus. I would never betray you–never
Sabrina leaned in, trying to kiss him, but Magnus turned his face away.
“You’re saying Chelsea set this up?” he asked, brows furrowed. Something about this didn’t sit right with him. Chelsea had her flaws, but she was never the type to play dirty like this.
“Of course she did,” Sabrina insisted, snaking her arms around his neck. “She sees how much you care about me, and it drives her crazy. She’s trying to destroy us.”
“I need to think,” Magnus said quietly, his voice flat. “Leave me alone for a while.”
“Magnus.” she whispered, trying to press closer.
“I said, get out!” he snapped.
The room went silent. Sabrina pulled back, lips trembling. She pouted and mumbled, “Fine. I’ll leave. But if you need me, just call, okay?”
As she turned to go, her elbow knocked the folder Calvert had left. It tumbled to the ground, spilling its contents.!!
A small voice recorder hit the floor and bounced once.!!
The moment the audio started playing, Magnus’s heart stopped. He recognized the voices–one was Sabrina’s. The other belonged to a man he didn’t know.
And what they were saying…
He knew in that moment, no matter how hard he tried, he would never forget what he heard for the rest of his life.!!
