Chapter 21

Chelsea. I’m sorry, I. Magnus’s voice caught in his throat

He couldn’t even finish his sentence. The weight of everything he had done hit him all over again, crushing his chest like a vise

“Let me go, Magnus.”

Chelsea struggled against him, but his grip was too strong. No matter how hard she pushed, it was no use

I love you, Chelsea.he whispered, tightening his hold as if he could keep her with those words alone

His brows furrowed, his emotions spiraling. Then suddenly, his socalled love turned forceful. He kissed her. In the very next second, he let go, wincing in pain. Ah!!!

She’d bitten him

s eyes, now full of hurt, locked onto hers

Blood stained his lip as he reached up and touched it, stunned. His eyes

Why, Chelsea? Why would you do that?”

Why?she repeated, her voice cracking with restrained rage. Magnus, you really want to ask me that? Then let me ask youwhy did you treat me the way you did back then? You say you love me? What a joke. Is that what your love looks like?! Tears, or maybe just the rain, streamed down her face as she stared at him with reddened eyes

He tried explaining again. It’s not like that, Chelsea. Please, let me explain-

could he possibly explain away

He reached for her hand once more, but the words caught in his throat. What was there to say? How o everything he’d done?!

our excuses. I don’t love you anymore, Magnus. We’re over. Pleasejust let me go.

Explain?she scoffed, I don’t need your excuses

She ripped her hand free from his grasp

But then, to her shock, Magnus dropped to his knees in front of her

Chelsea, I was wrongeverything I did was wrong. I’m begging you, forgive me

His voice trembled, eyes rimmed red. But as Chelsea looked down at him, there was no emotion left in her heart, not even anger. Late apologies are cheaper than weeds. And loveshe didn’t have it in her anymore. Not for him. Not after everything.! Without a word, she turned and walked back into their family villa

The next morning, the rain had stopped. The lingering sound of water sliding from the roof was the one filling the quiet house. Chelsea took a deep breath as she got out of bed and headed downstairs for breakfast

But just as she reached the dining room, a maid came rushing in, panic written all over her face

Miss! Something’s happened! Mr. Colon collapsed at the gate!!

Chelsea froze for a second, then followed the maid out the door

There he wasMagnus, soaked to the bone, lying unconscious just outside her home. His cheeks were flushed with fever.!!

She rushed forward, her brow furrowed tightly, and pressed her hand to his forehead. The heat radiating off him made her pull back instinctively

He was burning up

Help me bring him inside!she called out

In the bedroom, Magnus lay in bed, mumbling her name over and over in a fevered daze.!!

Chelsea sat by his side, brows still knit together!!

The doctor had come earlier and said the fever was from being out in the rain all night

She gently wiped the sweat from his forehead with a towel. Just as she was about to stand, his hand shot up and grasped hers tightly, his grip desperate even in his halfconscious state

Chelsea don’t go please don’t leave me…

His words came out broken, but his hand squeezed hers harder, like letting go would mean losing her forever.”

Chelsea looked down at the man she had once loved with all her heartthe same man who had hurt her deeper than anyone else ever could

his har

She tried to pry his hand off, but he only clung tighter

Then, his eyes slowly fluttered open, Bloodshot and hazy, they found hers

Chelsea don’t gohe whispered again
