Magnus approached her with a glass of champagne in hand, offering it to her with a charming smile.
He looked sharp, dressed in a crisp suit, all traces of his earlier desperation completely gone. Standing there with his usual poise, he looked like the perfect gentleman. But to Chelsea, the sight only brought back memories of her birthday, the day he praised her just like this, only to shatter her trust with lies and betrayal
She didn’t take the glass. Instead, she tightened her hold on Alaric’s arm and walked past Magnus as if he were a stranger.)
“Magnus? What is he doing here?” Alaric asked, frowning when he noticed the man’s gaze trailing after them.2
“No idea, Chelsea replied coolly
In truth, the party had been organized by people in their industry, so it wasn’t surprising that Magnus showed up. But that didn’t mean she wanted to see him.”
“Chelsea, can we talk?” Magnus followed after her, refusing to give up.
“There’s nothing left to say between us,” she coldly replied.
Magnus held her wrist and nagged, “Please.. is there really no chance at all?”
“I’ve told you already. We’re done. I don’t want to see you ever again!” she roared and forcefully pulled her hand away from his grasp. “Chelsea_”
He moved to reach for her again, but before his fingers could touch hers again, Alaric stepped between them, blocking him.
“Mr. Colon, didn’t you hear her? She said she doesn’t want to see you.“8
Alaric’s voice was low and firm, his expression cold as he stared Magnus down.8
“This is between me and her. It has nothing to do with you,” Magnus replied..
“Oh, but it does,” Alaric replied calmly. I’m pursuing her. That makes everything about her my business now.”

By the time Chelsea turned around, the two men were already brawling. Just as Magnus raised his fist to strike again, she stepped in between them.

Caught off guard, Magnus couldn’t pull back in time. His punch landed harmlessly on the floor beside her instead. “That’s enough” she shouted, shoving him back with all her strength before turning to help Alaric up from the ground. “Alaric, are you okay?”
He wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and gave a slight nod.
Relieved, Chelsea turned back to Magnus with fury in her
eyes.11
“If anything had happened to Alaric tonight, I swear I wouldn’t have let you walk away from it.”
Without giving him another glance, she wrapped her arm around Alaric and led him out of the event hall.
Magnus stood there, heart pounding, breath ragged. Watching them disappear together, his chest tightened painfully X
So this is how she must’ve felt on the night he walked away from her at her birthday party.
Chelsea took Alaric straight to the hospital. Fortunately, after the doctor examined him, it turned out to be just some minor bruising and cuts. As such, she finally let out a breath of relief.)
Outside the ER, Alanc gently held her hand.
“Chelsea
“Hmm?”
“Can you can you promise me something?”
“What is it?” she asked.!!
“Don’t see Magnus again. Ever.”
There was a slight tremble in his voice, a quiet insecurity. He wasn’t sure if her heart had fully moved on from Magnus.!!
Chelsea looked at him for a moment, then smiled softly, covering her mouth with her hand to stifle a laugh.
“Alright,” she said.
