But just when Alaric went to her family’s home to discuss their wedding plans with her parents, something unexpected happened. Michaela showed up and threw everything off course.
“Chelsea, I’m begging you.. Please, go see my brother!”
Michaela was on her knees at the villa entrance, bowing her head again and again until it hit the pavement.?
“Everything back then–it was all my idea. The drugs, those men… it was all me! My brother had nothing to do with it! If someone has to pay, let it be me. But please, go see my brother. You’re the only one who can save him now!”
Chelsea stood there, brows drawn tight, watching Michaela sob and plead like her life depended on it.

She never imagined that the next time she’d see Magnus, it would be in a hospital bed.
Looking at his pale, barely breathing body lying there, she couldn’t explain what she was feeling. It wasn’t love. It wasn’t hate. Just… complicated.
“What happened?” she finally asked, pulling Michaela aside, needing answers.
Michaela finally told her the full story.
After Magnus brought Sabrina back from overseas, he hadn’t been able to institutionalize her immediately because she was pregnant. So, he kept her under close watch at home.

“I had nowhere else to turn. So I came to you.”
She dropped to her knees again, but this time, Chelsea quickly caught her.

A laint smile tugged at the corners of his lips.
In his dreams, it had been her who pulled him back from the darkness.
