Chapter 9°
“Yes, Master.”
Shaun ignored Kathryn’s crying and strode out of the ward.§
She shouted behind him, but he never looked back.§
Shaun rushed home like crazy. As soon as he entered the yard, he saw the housekeeper cleaning the ash in the yard with a look of disgust. “Do you think the ash is dirty?” Shaun asked expressionlessly.
The butler did not know what was going on yet, so he said flatteringly, “Of course it is dirty. This ash can also cause Miss Wilkerson’s
iscarriage, so I have to clean it up just like you cleaned up the latest Mrs. Howard.
always knew you loved Miss Wilkerson all along. Mr. Howard really has good taste.”)
haun suddenly wondered, since when did even a servant in this family dare to be so disrespectful to Carmen?
Was it because of his attitude towards Carmen?}
He remembered the way I looked at him that day when I was lying on the ground as they tied me. It was so distant, so indifferent.
And the jar of ashes that he threw belonged to his son, Isaiah. It seemed he had made a very big mistake, of course Carmen hated him so much.
Shaun looked at his hands dejectedly and cried, “What have I done?“}
He looked at the butler coldly as he said, “From now on, you are fired. The Howard Family does not need a servant who does not know how to respect the lady and I promise that no one in the entire A city will employ you again.“}
Shaun asked the bodyguard to throw the butler out the door and he ran into the house, but he could not find me anywhere. Even my cell phone was thrown on the table.
He finally understood what I burned in the house that day. It was not to make Kathryn miscarry, but to completely erase all traces of my existence.
In the past, when Shaun came home, Isaiah would happily throw himself beside him and keep calling him dad.
And I would also wear a dress, lean against the door and look at them with a faint smile.
Shaun would then pick up Isaiah with one hand, put his arm around my shoulder with the other and walk towards the table with the food! had prepared for him.
Everything was so beautiful before, but it was completely disrupted because of Kathryn’s return.”
Even Shaun himself could not explain why he was so angry. Was it because he believed Kathryn’s words and was angry that I deceived him and claimed Kathryn’s credit?
Or was it because he thought I only loved his money and not him as a person?!
Even though his grandfather always said that I was the one who helped him overcome depression, even helped the company grow again, even gave birth to a child at a young age just for him, Shaun actually never took these things to heart.”
He only knew that I was his wife and Isaiah was his son.
Shaun was unwilling to accept that I might be with him only because of the Howard Family’s status and wealth, so he was angry and wanted revenge.}
But he never wanted to kill his son and he never thought that he would really lose me one day.
After they left the hospital, Mr. Howard fell ill and refused to see Shaun.
Shaun knelt outside the door of the Howard Family’s old house for seven days and seven nights.
It was not until the eighth day that the door of the old house opened and Mr. Howard came out leaning on a cane, looking at his good–for–nothing grandson whose face was covered in blood from kowtow.
He finally softened his heart and sighed as he asked, “Tell me, what do you want to ask?”
“Grandpa, please tell me, where is Carmen?“>
After returning to the orphanage where I was raised, I busied myself with household activities such as cooking, washing clothes and taking care of the children there.
For me, seeing the children happy can help my heartache from losing Isaiah. Every time I see a six–year–old boy smile, I always imagine that it is Isaiah.
Maybe I can’t have another child, but taking care of the children in the orphanage makes them call me ‘Mom‘ so that I feel like they are all my biological children.
On the eleventh day after I moved there, I finally had some time for myself, so I went out to get some fresh air.
