Chapter 22
The trash bin at the Mitchell family‘ s doorstep had somehow turned into a treasure chest.
Isabelle muttered, “After all these years, men’s tricks haven‘ t changed a bit.”
“It’s not that he hasn‘ t improved; it’s that he’s too lazy to try,” Asteria replied
with a small smile.
Even now, Primo still didn’t understand what she truly wanted.
She’d never lacked material things and certainly didn’t care for them.
What she wanted was something much
simpler: a genuine relationship, a love that would endure.
“Asteria, stop worrying about those
irritating things. Come work at my
company. It’ll keep your mind busy and give you a chance to grow.”

Asteria‘ s talents were undeniable.
She’d been at the top of her class every year, her potential limitless.
But for Primo, she‘ d sacrificed opportunities for further study, turned down offers from prestigious companies, and settled for a modest job, letting her abilities wither.
Now, it was time for her to rediscover herself.
With an unwavering smile, Asteria lifted her head. “Okay.”
Isabelle quickly settled Asteria into her new role, placing her in the position of General Manager.
Asteria didn’t waste any time proving herself, quickly earning the respect of the entire company.
In the past, Primo had dismissed her as immature, dull, and incapable.
But now, her colleagues found her witty,

charming, and incredibly skilled.
Her ability to connect with everyone and her unwavering commitment earned her admiration from even the most seasoned employees.
One curious colleague couldn’t help but ask, “Asteria, you‘ re a rich second- generation, so why do you work so hard? You‘ re always the last to leave. It’s making the rest of us, the poor second–gen folks, feel like slackers.”
Asteria treated everyone with coffee, smiling as she said, “Because if I don‘ t work hard, I’ll be stuck getting married, having kids, dealing with a wicked mother- in–law, being despised by my husband, watching a mistress come into the picture, and losing the support of my entire family.”
The room erupted in laughter.
“Lol, Asteria, you‘ re hilarious. With your beauty and talents, you must have suitors. lined up. Who would dare treat you like

that?”
Asteria’s smile remained, but her thoughts drifted to a life she almost had.
Fortunately, Asteria had seen through him before the wedding and made her escape just in time.
What she didn’t expect, though, was that despite hiding away, Yesha still found her, stirring trouble.
It was a quiet morning, and just as Asteria was about to head out for work, she was startled by Yesha‘ s sudden appearance. “Asteria, you really are something. All these years, I’ve underestimated you! You actually thought running away from the wedding would get his attention.”
Asteria didn’t flinch, though Yesha‘ s presence unsettled her.
“I’m telling you,” Yesha continued with a sneer, “you haven’t won. I have plenty of ways to get him back.”

Yesha strutted forward, her makeup too thick, her once full face now drawn and pale–she looked like a ghost wrapped in a mask.
Asteria glanced at the clock.
“Move aside. I still have to go to work,” she said, her voice calm and collected.
But Yesha wouldn’t let up.
“Since childhood, there’s nothing I can‘ t have when I want it,” Yesha said arrogantly. “And that includes Primo. The Chromos family may hate you now, but even if you‘ ve managed to get his attention, don’t think you’ll keep the title of Mrs. Chromos.”
Asteria didn’t rise to the bait.
“Whatever. You‘ d better get him back to the country quickly so I can have some
peace.
Without a word, Asteria stepped into her car and drove off, leaving Yesha standing
