Chapter 13
lier that day, Nadine had gone to the hospital to finalize plans for the surgery. Unexpectedly, she ran into joanna.
Originally, Nadine had thought of using Joanna to stir up some trouble, hoping she would take the bait and pick a fight. Yet, Joanna had turned the tables, delivering some biting remarks that left Nadine fuming but unable to retaliate.
However, what puzzled her most was how Joanna knew the baby she had been carrying wasn’t Jeremy’s. Even so, she wasn’t too concerned.
She was sure that even if Joanna had told Jeremy, he wouldn’t have believed her–if he had trusted Joanna, she would have spoken up long before now.
Jeremy frowned and asked calmly, “A uterus transplant? Are you sure about this?”
Nadine nodded eagerly, but her previously cheerful expression quickly dimmed with sadness. She lowered her head, and her voice broke as she whispered, “Jeremy, you know losing our baby has been my biggest regret and sorrow in life.”
Jeremy’s frown deepened. After a few seconds of silence, he said in a low voice, “I thought you hated hospitals. This isn’t a minor procedure. If you really want children, Joanna is pregnant now-”
“No, Jeremy!” Nadine suddenly lifted her head, cutting him off with tear–filled eyes. “I want to be a complete woman; I want to bear our own children!”
Jeremy looked at her, and his mind flashed back to that night over three years ago–Nadine had hemorrhaged after taking an overdose of abortion pills that Joanna had given her, lying barely alive in a pool of blood. If he had arrived even a little later that night, she might not have survived.
He felt indebted to Nadine. It was also why he had done everything to make it up to her for the past three years.
He had sent her to Eburio, paid a fortune for her music school tuition, hired the world’s best cello instructors, and funded her concerts. Whenever she wanted to return, he would send his private jet to pick her up.
Nadine hadn’t just lost her baby and her uterus. Five years ago, she had jumped into freezing waters to pull him from a raging river.
“Alright.” Jeremy finally nodded after a moment of silence. “Where is the uterus coming from? Is it through legal channels?”
Nadine’s tear–filled eyes immediately lit up with joy when she saw him agree. “Yes, of
it’s completely legal,” she said, wiping away a tear.

She grabbed his hands tightly again, beaming with happiness. “Jeremy, you’re too good to me. Having you in my life is the greatest blessing I could ask for.”
Jeremy’s expression didn’t change as he gently pulled his hands free again, his voice low as he hummed in reply. Then, he asked, “When’s the procedure?”
“In about a week,” Nadine replied.
“Is there anything you need me to do before the surgery?” Jeremy asked.
Nadine shook her head. “No need. You’re so busy, and I can handle all the small details myself. Just be there with me at the hospital on the day of the surgery.“.
She gazed at him adoringly, her eyes full of tenderness. “Jeremy, I’m not afraid of anything when you’re with me.”
Jeremy was about to say “okay” when suddenly a glass of ice water was thrown at him from the side.
