Chapter 14
A full glass of ice water splashed directly onto Jeremy, soaking him completely. Nadine immediately let out a sharp scream, jumping out of her chair.
She pointed at the woman throwing the water and shouted, “Who do you think you are? How dare you throw water on Jeremy! Are you crazy?”
The woman shot Nadine an icy glare but ignored her, focusing her rage entirely on Jeremy. “You absolute scumbag, Jeremy! You’re a married man, yet you still have the audacity to keep mistresses on the side! You worthless piece of trash!”
Jeremy closed his eyes and wiped the water from his face before turning to look at the woman. It was Sydney Steele, Joanna’s best friend.
“Someone, help!” Nadine screamed again. “Get this lunatic out of–Ah!”
Before she could finish, Sydney grabbed Jeremy’s water glass, about to throw it in Nadine’s face.
Nadine let out another shriek and quickly turned away, shutting her eyes. However, the water never left the glass because Jeremy caught Sydney’s wrist before she could do anything.
He stood up, gripping her wrist firmly. Then, he warned her, “Sydney, before you fight someone else’s battles, you should get your facts straight.”
The restaurant was packed with diners who had already been stealing glances at Jeremy and Nadine. With this dramatic scene unfolding, everyone’s attention was entirely on them, many holding their phones to record.
Some were already sending clips to their friends, while others were posting directly to social media.
“Get what facts straight?” Sydney had just returned to the country that day and had not even had the chance to tell Joanna she was back. She had been having dinner with friends. when she spotted Jeremy and Nadine together.
“Should I get straight how many mistresses you have?” she asked loudly, deliberately making sure everyone could hear.
“Jeremy, is she your friend?” Nadine asked timidly.
Sydney’s sharp gaze turned to her. “It’s Nadine, right? What’s wrong–been the other woman so long you’ve gotten addicted to it?”
“Jeremy…” Nadine looked at him with tear–filled eyes, seeking help after being publicly humiliated.

“Mr. Hansen, Ms. Slinger, is there anything we can help you with?” The restaurant manager hurried over with two male servers.
Since Sydney was also a paying customer and not just someone who had come in to cause trouble, the manager couldn’t simply throw her out.
Jeremy glanced at the manager and all the dining customers before releasing Sydney’s hand. Afterward, he elegantly flicked the water droplets from his suit jacket.
“I’ll cover everyone’s bills tonight, but I need all recordings of this incident deleted and any posts already made taken down. Otherwise, there will be consequences,” he said in a deep, magnetic voice with undeniable authority
The other diners immediately began putting their phones away.
Sydney scoffed. “What’s wrong, Jeremy? Too cowardly to own up to your actions?”
Jeremy ignored her jab and turned to the manager, his tone still composed as he said, ” Please escort Ms. Steele out.”
The manager looked at Sydney warily.
