Chapter 31
Nadine spice with a questioning tow, confideby turning the tables.
Joanna couldn’t understand where her confidere came from, but she had no terest in wasting words.
“Nadine, I don’t care if joy was forced or willing, but if you think you’re going to take her uterus, it’s not happening”
Nadine sneered. “Joanna, you’re only interfering became you don’t want me to have the chance to bear Jeremy’s child. That way, your child can conveniently become the heir to the Hansen family. Isn’t that right?”
Then, with a cold laugh, she added, “But whether your child can even be bom is still up in the air. You’re dreaming of leveraging your child for power–it’s way too soon for that.”
Her words left Joanna frowning sharply. They carried a clear threat–adine wouldn’t let Joanna safely deliver her child.
It made sense. For years, Nadine had poured allher energy into tying Jeremy to her.
After everything she had done to climb to where she was, there was no way she would let Joanna give birth to Jeremy’s children and solidify her place as his wife
Even though Nadine knew her miscarriage and subsequent loss of her uterus had nothing to do with Joanna, she would never allow Joanna to bear Jeremy’s child and take the title of Mrs. Hansen–a title Nadine herself could never rightfully claim.
“Nadine, I’ve already signed the divorce agreement and given them to Jeremy. If you wanted to be his wife that badly, it’s actually quite simple. Get him to sign the papers and finalize the divorce. Then he can marry you, and your wish will come true.”
Joanna chuckled, her tone calm and measured. “If you’re so desperate, go ahead and put on a show for Jeremy. Maybe if he feels sorry for you, he’ll run straight to finalize the divorce.”
“Joanna, stop acting like you’re above all this,” Nadien hissed. “You only got pregnant now because you want to cling to the title of Mrs. Hansen.”
Her voice turned venomous. “Jeremy doesn’t even love you. And yet, here you are, trying to keep your position by having his child. Do you even realize how disgusting and shameless you are?”
“Disgusting and shameless?”
Joanna laughed as if she had just heard the funniest joke in the world. “Nadine, were you really the one who jumped into the frozen river five years ago to save Jeremy? And that child Wendy forced you to abort–it wasn’t Jeremy’s, was it?”

“Nonsense!” Nadine shouted.
She hadn’t expected Joanna to know so many of her secrets, Secrets she had never shared with anyone.
How could Joanna possibly know?
Panicked, Nadine snapped back, her words tumbling out incoherently. “You’re jealous of me! That’s why you hate me and slander me. Do you think Jeremy will believe you? The person he loves now is me!”
“Is that so?” Joanna’s voice was light, almost indifferent.
“Nadine, whether Jeremy loves you or not is none of my concern. But let me be clear. Joy’s Wons and
my unborn child? You won’t lay a finger on either.”
Her tone suddenly turned frigid, her words as sharp and cutting as a shard of ice. Otherwise, I’ll tear off your mask and expose you for what you are. When I’m done, you’ll be nothing more than a rat scurrying in the gutter. You’ll wish you’d never been born.”
With that, Joanna ended the call.
On the other end, Nadine was left with the sound of the call disconnecting, the monotonous beeps echoing in her ears.
Joanna’s final words replayed in her mind, leaving her trembling with rage. Unable to contain her fury, Nadine hurled her phone across the room with all her strength.
