Chapter 48
“What’s the matter? Do you think you have nothing to fear just because you’re pregnant?” Jeremy spoke as sharply as he had always been
Joanna merely looked at him wordlessly,
“The babies you’re carrying, have better be my kids, Joanna. Otherwise, I will never let you or the man off the hook.” Jeremy added coldly,
With that, he stormed out of the garden. She watched as he disappeared from the glow of the streetlight. For a moment there, she was stunned.
What did Jeremy mean by what he said? Why did he start thinking that Joanna might’ve been pregnant with his babies? What brought on the sudden change?
Moreover, was that his way of saying he was okay with her giving birth to the twins?
Was it possible that Jeremy would kick her out of the picture once they were born? Would he make her twins think that Nadine was their mother?
No way. That wasn’t happening. Joanna would make sure of it. The twins were hers, and no one could take them away from her.
This
gave Joanna more motivation to divorce Jeremy as quickly as possible before fleeing to the far ends of the earth. Only then would he forget about making Nadine her twins‘ mother.
When Joanna returned from the garden, Jeremy, Wendy, and Sean were in the study. She walked past it and heard some voices from inside. That was when she overheard Jeremy saying he wanted to acquire Eterna Group.
Why would Jeremy do something like that?
“Is it because of Joanna and Elliot?” Wendy asked.
“Of course not,” Jeremy responded firmly, “Eterna Group’s products cater to rich socialites, and they have observed exponential growth for the past few years.
“On top of that, they have a good reputation and boundless potential in the market. Acquiring them would surely be beneficial to Hansen Group.”
Jeremy actually had such a high opinion of Eterna Group. Joanna’s lips subconsciously curled into a grin. She stopped eavesdropping and continued onward to the third floor, where her and Jeremy’s room was located.
Joanna wondered if Jeremy would stay the night. If he did, he probably wouldn’t stay in the same room as her anyway.
Ever since they got married, they had rarely returned to the Hansen residence. Most of the

time, they would only return during New Year’s Eve.
Jeremy would usually skip sleeping on that day. After all, everyone would be busy until i was very late in the night. Also, the Hansens had a tradition of doing a mass within the family very early in the morning.
So, Jeremy would stay awake and have his way with Joanna all night long
Joanna would suffer terribly on every first day of New Year. She had to satisfy Jeremy’s carnal desires for several hours nonstop. Then, she still had to wake up early in the morning to help with the chores.
Seeing that she was among the prestigious Hansen family, Joanna didn’t even dare to yawn in front of people.
Things were different for Jeremy, though. He could pull an all–nighter, and he would still seem full of energy.
Once Joanna went back to her room, she took a bath. When she came out of the bathroom, she heard the subtle sound of a car engine. She walked over to the window and saw Jeremy’s car swiftly heading toward the main gate.
Soon, he was gone.
Joanna let out a sigh of relief. She no longer had to worry about sharing the same room with him. Then, she recalled that he intended to acquire Eterna Group, and she grabbed her phone to call Elliot.
“I have to give it to Jeremy. He might’ve had a bad taste in ladies, but he sure knows how to pick the best options when it comes to business,” Elliot said after Joanna explained why she called.
She didn’t refute his words. “We have to pick up the pace and acquire Yvestone Co. before Hansen Group does the same to us.”
Not only would Eterna Group’s assets double if they successfully acquired Yvestone Co., but their reputation would also skyrocket. When that happened, Jeremy would have to consider his options carefully if he still wanted to acquire Eterna Group.
After all, he wouldn’t be able to do it by offering twice the price that he was thinking now.
