How had she found out? He had been so careful. Meticulous, even. Every meeting with Violet, every text, every lie he had ensured there was no trace. Or so he thought.
The realization struck him hard: Cassie had always been perceptive, noticing things others overlooked. Maybe it was a detail he missed, a change in his behavior, or even something as small as a misplaced scent on his clothes.
But none of that mattered now. The damage was done.
Max grabbed his phone, scrolling through his contacts, his social media, his emails anything that might connect him to her. But there was nothing. Cassie had erased herself from his life, leaving no way for him to reach her.

No phones, no socials, no emails. He couldn’t reach her. She was gone, truly
gone.
Max dropped the phone beside him, his chest heaving as he struggled to hold back tears. He had ruined everything–their love, their marriage, their future. And now, his wife he had taken for granted was gone!
Max stormed out of the house, his thoughts filled with regret. But as he turned the corner, he froze.
There she was Violet, leaning casually against the wall, a smug smile playing on her lips as if she had been waiting for him.
“Max,” she drawled, her tone teasing. “Rough day?”
Max felt the rage bubbling inside him, ready to explode. He opened his mouth to lash out when Violet casually lifted her phone, tapping the screen.
“Look at this,” she said, tilting it toward
him.

On the screen was a message thread, and his heart sank as Cassie’s avatar
appeared. Violet smirked, scrolling through the messages, deliberately pausing to show him screenshots of their time together the restaurant reservations, the gifts, and every moment he had spent with Violet instead of Cassie.
Max’s fury reached a boiling point. He snatched the phone out of Violet’s hands, ignoring her startled protest. His fingers zoomed in on the previous messages, scanning them and suddenly realizing…
It was her.
This woman had sent Cassie everything- the photos, the details, the evidence.
Violet had orchestrated the whole thing, feeding Cassie the truth in the most painful way possible.
His hands shook as he turned to face
Violet, his anger barely restrained. “It was you,” he yelled.

Violet’s confidence faltered, her eyes widening. “Max, I just…”
“You told her,” he snarled, stepping closer. “You enjoyed this, didn’t you? Watching her break, watching her leave!” He was going crazy.
“Wait, Max, I didn’t mean…”
“Don’t!” he snapped, his voice sharp enough to make her flinch. “You‘ re the reason my wife is gone. The one person I loved ” His voice cracked, and he took a step back, his chest heaving.
Violet’s face twisted with confusion and
panic. “You said you didn’t love her
anymore! You stayed with me…” Violet said
confused and shocked.
Violet reached out to touch his arm, but he yanked it away.
“You ruined everything,” Max yelled at her again

shattering on impact.
“What’s happening Max explain it to me,” Violet stood there stunned. She had thought she had him under her leash and that he loved her.
She had managed to get rid of his wife. She felt they would both be happy together now since she wasn’t around anymore. Now what was this?
