5: Affair In Home.
(Cassie’s POV)
I had thought I had skresteeled myself for anything, but the sight before me was a gut–wrenching betrayal in real–time.
As I watched them both, I felt it.
Max leaned in toward Violet and kissed her. I took a deep breath, my heart racing. My thoughts were filled with a mix of anger and disgust bubbling within me. My skin crawled, and bile rose in my throat as I stared at the scene I could no longer unsee.
“Don’t come to the house,” Max
muttered as he pulled away. “Cassie might get suspicious.
Violet tilted her head back, a sly smile playing on her lips. “She‘ s probably
asleep by now, and it doesn‘ t really matter,” she said, shrugging her shoulders as she traced her hands on his chest
seductively.

“It matters,” Max shook his head, his tone a little deeper. “My wife will always be my wife.”
A bitter laugh escaped my lips as I watched him say those words. Before I could
process my emotions, Violet stepped closer to Max. She began to slip her shirt off her shoulders and pressed her lips against his.
My hand trembled as I slammed the laptop. screen shut. My stomach dropped, and a cold wave of nausea washed over me. I
stumbled away from the desk and walked toward the couch. I fell into it, feeling the soft, comfy cushions as I wrapped my hands around myself, trying to hold the broken pieces of my heart together.
“How could I have been so blind?” I whispered into the suffocating silence of the room, tears threatening to spill.
I wiped the tears that had dared to fall, throwing my head back and holding the tears in. My face flushed red, and I let out a laugh, sharp and cold, filling the quiet

room as my eyes drifted toward the framed wedding photo hanging on the wall.
The image now seemed like a cruel mockery of the promises we had once made. Max had broken those promises and betrayed me, breaking my heart with them, and soon, our marriage would be nothing more than a memory.
This was once the man I trusted and never
believed could do this to me.
I sat in silence, listening to the faint murmurs from Max’s office through the slightly ajar door.
“Do you want me to drop you off?”
Max’s voice sounded, his tone casual, as though he hadn’t just betrayed his wife
moments ago.
Hearing this, I immediately walked toward the room. My grip on the doorknob tightened, and I straightened my posture. Before Violet could answer, I stepped into the office, and they both turned toward me.

They hadn’t heard my shoes clicking against the polished floor because they were busy with themselves, of course.
Violet turned, startled, but my gaze didn’t even flicker toward her. Instead, I locked eyes with Max, keeping my expression calm and composed, like I didn’t know what was going on. But deep down, a storm brewed beneath the surface. I held it all in, but what I really wanted to do was lunge at him, yell at him, and demand to know why he was doing this to me.
“Working late, are we?” I asked, my tone light yet pointed. My lips curved into a faint smile that didn’t reach my eyes.
Max stiffened, his hand still resting on the edge of his desk. “Uh… yeah. Reviewing some documents. You‘ re still awake?”
I took a few steps closer, my presence commanding as I leaned casually against the doorframe. “Couldn’t sleep. Thought I’d check if you needed anything. But I see you’ve been… occupied.”

The subtle edge in my voice made Max falter for a moment, but he quickly put on a bright and confident smile. “It’s just some documents that’s taking a little too. long to be completed. Won’t be long.” he said, glancing across the table.
Hearing Max, I saw Violet flinch for a moment as she glanced between the two of us. I pretended not to notice, but I know Max caught her body language because he fired her a sharp look.
They both think I don’t know? 1 chuckled
to myself as I looked at both of them.
I’d let them play their games for now, but very soon, I’d leave him to her. I knew it; our marriage was coming to an end.
I beamed a smile at Max, like everything was alright.
“Well,” I continued, my eyes briefly flickering to Violet, who stood by the desk, acting busy with some documents. My gaze rested on her for a moment before settling
