Chapter 9
“Mr. Fitzgerald, Mrs. Fitzgerald, I… I can explain,” Walton stammered, his tone frantic. “I had no idea that this vile woman was in conflict with Miss.
Fitzgerald, let alone that she’s been involved in illegal activities! From this moment on, she’s no longer an employee of Velvetline Entertainment. I‘ ll issue a statement terminating her contract immediately!”
My father spoke calmly, yet his words. carried undeniable authority. “Today is my precious daughter‘ s birthday. I don’t have time to waste on you or your mess. Take care of it yourself. Don’t let me see you causing a scene here again.”
He paused, his gaze sharp. “However, let me make one thing clear: someone under your authority slapped my daughter and that’s as good as slapping the entire Fitzgerald Family in the face. This will not

be forgiven so easily.”
Walton opened his mouth, but before he could utter another word, the Fitzgerald security team stepped in, roughly escorting him off the estate. Margot, too, was dragged out, though she was in far worse shape–her legs had given out and the guards had to carry her away.
Her fate was sealed. Even if I didn’t pursue her any further, her life was destined to become a living hell. Offending the Fitzgerald Family’s daughter meant plenty of people eager to curry favor with us would take it upon themselves to deal with her. She was doomed to a tragic end.
As for the others involved in this mess–the production crew and their ilk–I couldn’t even bother with them. The guards. dragged them out as well, their faces pale and lifeless, like they‘ d been drained of all hope. What should‘ ve been a
celebration had turned into the end of their careers. There was no way they’d ever

work in this industry again.
Then there was Kieran. He stood frozen for a moment before finally speaking, his voice shaking. “Lila, I swear, I was forced into this!”
“It was Margot‘ s idea! She forced me. break up with you. You know how hard it is for an underclass artists like me to survive this industry. With no strong background, I couldn’t stand up to her.” His voice cracked as he continued, “She threatened me, Lila. She said she’d come after you if I didn’t end things with you. I had no choice but to endure the humiliation and stay with her.”
“Lila, I’ve always loved you,” he said earnestly, stepping closer. “I made a
mistake. But please, give me a chance. I‘ 11 make it right.”
There was a time when I might‘ ve
softened, when his heartfelt plea
would‘ ve been enough to win me back.
But now, I looked at him with calm

detachment.
“Kieran,” I said quietly, “there was a time when I thought you were good to me. I wanted to build a future with you, even considered introducing you to my parents. I was willing to fight for us, even if it meant eloping if they didn’t approve.
“But you let me down.” My tone grew colder. “You claim you were thinking of me, worried that Margot would come after me. But the truth is, you were more concerned about the benefits Margot could offer you, weren’t you?”
“She’s a top producer, after all. With her resources, she could make you a star–take you from a second–tier celebrity to an A- lister. You’ve always dreamed of fame, Kieran and you weren’t about to give that up. So even if you felt a pang of guilt about betraying me, it was nothing compared to the allure of your future success. Am I wrong?”
“Now that you know who I really am, you

want to come crawling back.” My voice was firm as I delivered the final blow. “But it’s too late. What I told Margot applies to you too. The two of you are so blinded by the pursuit of money and fame that you’ve forgotten who you are and where you came from.”
