Chapter 9%
Harry looked at me with that mocking smile again. As if he was enjoying every second of my panic.
“So,” he said slowly, slipping the phone into his pocket, “should I start printing out the fake engagement announcement now? Or should I just reply to his message and tell him you’re ready to come home?“>
I clenched my fists. My chest felt tight. That message–it had to be from Bobby. No doubt. He’d found me. And now, the only thing standing between me and the nightmare I thought I’d escaped… was Harry.”
“This isn’t a game, Harry,” I said through gritted teeth. “He’s dangerous.“}
“So am I, sweetheart,” he replied with a smirk. “But the difference is–I’m on your side. At least, for now.”
I looked at the SIM card in his hand, now pinched between his fingers like a key. A key to either my freedom–or my destruction.
“Do we have a deal?” he asked, stepping closer, his voice dropping sharply.
I gave a slow nod. “Fine. I’ll be your fake fiancée.”>
His smile widened into something sly. “Perfect. Welcome to the spotlight, Isabella Shana.“}
And just like that, I sealed my fate with the devil who liked apples and blackmailed me with a charming smile.
A Few Days Later – Kingston University
The morning at Kingston University felt busier than usual.}
Students rushed through the main courtyard–some hurrying with books in hand, others casually sipping coffee from the small café near the administration building. But that morning, it was like all eyes turned away from their routines.}
Our car rolled to a stop in front of the campus gate.
I could feel the stares from every direction. Whispers started as the car door opened and Harry stepped out first. Dressed in a sharp dark suit that hugged his tail frame, wearing his usual faint smile, and carrying that unreachable rich bad boy aura, he was always the center of
attention.
And just yesterday, I told people we were “distant relatives.”}
But this morning… everything changed.”
Harry turned and opened the car door for me with elegant ease. I stepped out slowly, trying to stay calm even though every step felt like walking on stage under a spotlight.
My light brown jacket and cream trousers were nothing special, but I felt like everyone’s eyes were stripping me down from head to toe.}
Then, without warning, Harry took my hand. In public. Without hesitation.
And just like that, the atmosphere turned into a campus drama.}
“OH MY GOD, that’s Mr. HARRY!“}
“Who’s the girl?!“&
“That’s… the new student? Isabella! She came with Mr. Harry yesterday. But not like that!“}
“They’re… HOLDING HANDS?!“}
Whispers turned into a buzz. Some students froze mid–step. I even saw someone almost walk into a light pole, too distracted to notice anything else.
Then… Harry spoke.
With a calm voice, just loud enough for many to hear, he said, “Yesterday, she was still shy and said we were distant relatives. But today I want to clarify. Isabella is not just my cousin… she’s my fiancée.”
Silence. Time seemed to freeze. I heard a coffee cup drop to the pavement. Someone gasped. Others cursed in disbelief.
“Did he just say… FIANCÉE?!“}
I forced a smile. My hand suddenly went cold. I wanted to disappear–melt into the pavement. But Harry… he looked like he was enjoying every second of it.%
A girl with purple hair–Melissa, if I remembered correctly–stepped closer with a curious and probably broken heart.
“Mr. Harry… is this for real?” she asked, her voice nearly cracking.
Harry looked at me, then casually draped his arm around my shoulder. “Yes. And I’m proud to introduce her to all of you.”
I nearly choked. His words were too smooth, as if he truly believed we were a real couple.!]
We walked together toward the faculty building. The whispers grew louder. The stares grew sharper. Some were envious, some were skeptical, and some… clearly hated me–even though they didn’t know me.
I let out a long sigh. “This is going to be a very long semester,” I muttered to myself.”
Harry chuckled softly beside me. “Relax, my sweet fiancée. This is just the warm–up.”
“I ran away from my chaotic life. And you… just made it worse!” I snapped, nearly grinding my teeth.
“This is better than not being acknowledged in public.“}
I froze. His words hit hard. A memory from the past rushed back in–a wound I thought had healed–reminding me of how it felt to be denied, even by someone who was supposed to protect me.

And he was right… that hurt more.
We stopped in front of the classroom door. Harry released my hand and looked at me seriously.#
“You’re here. Go ahead. Call me if anyone bothers you”
I nodded slowly, trying to stay composed even though my heart was still in turmoil. Before I could step inside, Harry slipped Something in my pocket.
“What?“N
