Chapter 11
“Hector, come in.” Lindsey naturally took Hector’s coat when he took it off.
Micah hopped and skipped behind them as they headed upstairs. He chirped, “Grandma and Grandpa aren’t at home today, Mr. Yarrow! That means you can spend all the time you want with Mommy!”
Lindsey flushed and swatted Micah. “What are you talking about? You’re just a kid!”
He made a face at her before running to his room and shutting the door.
“He’s such a menace.” She smiled shyly and leaned against Hector. “I’ll go shower. Wait for me, okay?”
She blinked at him before turning and heading to the bathroom.
Hector watched her leave. He murmured, “Is the side you’re showing me truly who you are, Lindsey?”
If this was who she actually was, who was the woman who’d pinched Micah’s arm and acted like she’d detested him?
For some reason, he was reminded of Noelle again. She was so naive and easy to lie to–even after learning that he’d “gone bankrupt“, she’d just given him a winning smile.
She’d said, “There’s always a way for you to get back on your feet as long as you don’t give up, Hector. All you need to do is focus on your work. Leave things at home to me!”
Later, his assistant had found out that Noelle worked five jobs a day and collected trash just so she could help pay the bills. However, Hector hadn’t pitied her in the slightest upon hearing about this. He’d only been filled with scorn and disdain.
Now, he thought about how she would always sit by the dining table and wait for him with a warm meal whenever he returned home, pretending to look tired.
“Noelle…” Hector suddenly wanted to speak to her. He pulled out his phone to text her when the bathroom door swung open.
“Hector, come over here!” Lindsey’s voice rang out amid the running water.
Hector hurriedly put his phone away and strode toward her. “What’s wrong?”
wwww..
He leaned against the doorjamb, feeling somewhat irritated as he listened to the sound of the water.
“Look.” She approached him amid the steam, wearing nothing but a loose bathrobe. She opened it and let it slide to the floor, revealing the black lace bra that covered her perky chest. He could even vaguely see her privates through her underwear.
“You vixen.” He chuckled and stepped forward to carry her bridal–style
Her face was flushed from her shower, and she lay pliant in his arms. He pressed his forehead to hers, and her warm breath made him heat up.
“You did this on purpose, didn’t you?” he rasped. “You told me to come over for this, right?”
His deep voice struck her heart, and she snaked her arms around his neck, her breath catching slightly as she asked, “Tonight, can we…
“I’ll inake an exception tonight.” Hector held Lindsey tightly and headed back to the bedroom. He kicked the door shut as he passed by it. Soon, moans and groans rang out. They went on for a long time before subsiding.
Hector was in a good mood as he showered. As he lathered shower gel over his arm, he faltered.
When he was done, he put on a bathrobe and quietly headed to Micah’s bedroom. The latter was fast asleep.
Hector stared at his face affectionately–he looked just like Lindsey. Then, he stepped forward and rolled up the sleeve of Micah’s pajama top.
His
eyes widened in shock–there was a huge bruise on Micah’s arm! He stared at it in disbelief, realizing that his eyes hadn’t been playing tricks on him earlier. Lindsey really had pinched Micah at the restaurant!
Hector forced himself to calm down. He rolled Micah’s sleeve down and left the room.
What the hell was going on? Didn’t Lindsey love Micah more than anything?
Hector hadn’t wanted to forgive Lindsey upon her return to the then. But when she brought Micah to his office and apologized to him, he’d begrudgingly forgiven her because he pitied her for having to raise Micah
country. After all, she’d been cruel enough to abandon him and marry someone else back
alone.
It helped that Micah looked just like Lindsey. That was why Hector genuinely cared about him and wanted the best for him.
Lindsey had frequently used Micah wanting to see him as an excuse to meet up with him. As time had passed, they’d repaired their relationship, and he’d forgotten about Noelle and lan. He’d given Lindsey and Micah all his attention.
He’d even hoped that Micah was his and Lindsey’s child–he wanted them to be his actual family!
But now, the bruise on Micah’s arm changed things. It made Hector’s fantasy start to crumble.
“What is going on?” He leaned
