Chapter 11
“Do you know what I thought when I first saw you at the freshman welcoming ceremony at college? I wondered what right you had to be so loved. Why couldn’t I take your place? You just had more luck than me–you were lucky enough to be born as a Shore!” a woman snarled.
Everyone could tell the voice belonged to Jasmine. She turned ashen and tried to unplug the projector.
She screamed, “That’s not me! This is fake! This is all a farce, guys! Don’t believe it!”
The delivery guy hurriedly shielded the power socket and grabbed Jasmine, holding her hands behind her back
The video continued playing, and the sounds of someone groaning from being beaten rang out again.
Jasmine’s voice sounded amid the agony. “I’m the one who made you fall and end up in a coma, Rowena. I also had someone give your family the idea of making me your replacement. “They’re so dumb. I look a little like you, and I just had to mimic some of your actions to make them think I was you. That was all it took to make them treat me well. The happiest time of life was when you were comatose.

“Still, so what if you’ve woken up now? I’m the one they believe, and they can’t live without me. I just have to lie to them to make them think you’re the one who did all those things. “I guess you don’t mean that much to them after all! Why else would they have thrown you behind bars just because I shed a few tears?” Jasmine sneered. She stepped on Rowena as she spoke.
The latter mustered the courage to retaliate once more, saying, “You’re wrong. Mom, Dad, Roland, and Jordan must love me!”
Was it because she’d still had faith in them back then? Perhaps that was the case. Or perhaps she’d just been comforting herself.
Either way, her words angered Jasmine. She kicked Rowena and said to a prison warden, “Make sure you arrange for someone to ‘take good care of her‘!”
The voices stopped there, and the video had ended. There was no doubt in everyone’s mind what Jasmine had meant when asking the prison warden to “take care” of Rowena.

They couldn’t help looking at the Shores and Jordan scornfully. Melinda and Philip were dumbfounded, and their vision flickered. They felt like they’d been struck by lightning; their worlds were collapsing around them.
Melinda swayed on her feet, on the brink of passing out. “Ro… My darling Ro…”
་་
Tears streamed down her face as she stared at the screen. Regret overwhelmed her.

Philip looked furious. The air around him turned frosty as he stormed over to Jasmine and kicked her hard. “How dare you, Jasmine! How dare you treat my precious daughter like that?” He trembled violently. He wanted nothing more than to rip her to shreds.
Jasmine suppressed the pain and tried her best to put on a pitiful Jook. She cried while clinging to Philip’s leg and pleading for mercy.
“I didn’t do any of those things, guys. Please believe me! Rowena must have had someone fabricate that video–why would I say anything like that?
“I feel nothing but gratitude for all of you. Why would I harm my sister? I wouldn’t be where I am now without her! I don’t know why she’s doing this to frame me. Is she trying to use this to destroy the wedding? Don’t you guys know what I’m really like?”
She weeped pitifully as she tried to convince them of her innocence. She wouldn’t give up until the last moment.
