Chapter 12
Roland grabbed Jasmine by the collar and slapped her hard. “I can’t believe you’re still spouting nonsense at a time like this! We’re not idiots–do you think we can’t tell whether a video is real or fabricated? How could you have treated my sister like that?”
Jasmine’s head turned to the side from the force of the slap, and blood trickled down the corner of her mouth. She was devastated–it was all over.
Just then, she noticed Jordan standing there, his head lowered in silence. Seeing that, she thought she still had a sliver of hope.
She cried, “Jordan! Save me, Jordan! I didn’t do anything. That’s not me in the video! Please believe me! Mom, Dad, and Roland have all gotten me wrong, so please help me explain it to them!

She wore a pure white wedding gown, but she looked disheveled as she crawled to Jordan and clung to his legs. The tears and blood on her face mingled as they streamed down her face. She pleaded with him, but he didn’t say anything.
His hands trembled as he clutched the engagement annulment letter, and the look in his eyes turned dangerous. Jasmine didn’t notice, though.
They’ve gotten you wrong? Are you telling me those injuries on Ro’s body were faked?” he finally asked. His eyes were red, but his expression grew more menacing. He stomped on Jasmine and ground his foot.
“No, Jordan…”
“She gasped, feeling like her bones were going to shatter. She continued crying, but her tears no longer made anyone pity her.
-fold!”
Jordan was indifferent to her agony. He didn’t stop tormenting her. “Ro’s endured so much, and you’ve lied to us for so long. We have to make you pay in a hundred–no, a thousand–f His voice was soft, but it sounded like a message from hell to her ears. They sent a bolt of terror straight to her heart.
She looked at Melinda, Philip, and Roland. All she saw was the hatred in their eyes, which made her heart jolt. As the light left her eyes, she collapsed on the ground, curling up.
It was all over. Jasmine had no idea what else she could do to beg for their forgiveness.
“The wedding ends here. Take her to prison–I want her to experience everything that Ro did while she was in there!” Jordan ordered coldly. He looked at Jasmine like he wanted to rip her throat out.
The bodyguards surrounded her and dragged her away, ignoring her struggles. She screamed, “Jordan! Mom, Dad, Roland! I can explain! Please don’t do this to me!”
She didn’t stop trying to explain even as she was dragged away, but no one cared about what she had to say. The contents of the video were enough to tell them what they needed to know. Everyone was silent for a long time, and what was supposed to be the wedding of the century ended on a ridiculous note. The upper crust gossiped about the matter for a long time. The news of the Shore family allowing a stand–in to bully their own daughter turned them into a laughingstock among the upper crust.
The guests refused to leave after the wedding was over. They wanted to see how things played out. They’d seen the contents of the video but had no idea what was up with the two other gifts.
The engagement annulment letter given to Jordan clearly stated that he and Rowena had nothing to do from now on. He read it countless times and checked the handwriting, trying hard to convince himself that this was just a nasty prank someone had pulled on him.
However, the truth was laid bare before him. He and Rowena had grown up together–how could he not recognize her handwriting?
When he’d been younger, he’d secretly mimicked her handwriting and written her name countless times.
He’d never expected her to one day call off their engagement.
