Chapter 100
Aunt Hannah rushed over for a closer look. She only needed a single glance before clutching her chest and collapsing to the ground a “Filthy! Disgraceful! How could you do something this vile, Alison Wise?“!
I crossed my arms and let out a soft laugh. “Bet it never crossed you mind, did it? You always believed your precious daughter was sweet, innocent and obedient. But even with all her flaws, she always knew how to wrap any guy she wanted around her little finger”
Then I played the recording–the one from the exam room. Her voice, clear and cocky, filled the silence 3
*Seriously. Fran, it’s the 21st century. You really gotta stop thinking like a nun. There are so many ways I can make a guy happy–way more than just that one.”
Aunt Hannah couldn’t take it anymore. She sprang up from the floor and stormed over, kicking Alison hard in the side.
“You filthy little tramp! Have you no shame?”
Alison burst into tears, screaming and shielding her head with her arms. “No, mom. It’s not real! She used Al, okay? Fran made that with All She’s trying to turn you all against me–don’t believe her!”
I turned to Soren, completely calm. I wasn’t worried–if he questioned the authenticity of the video, I’d be happy to prove it to him
“No! You can’t let this video get out,” Alison cried, crawling over and clutching at Soren’s leg. Her voice cracked with desperation, “Please, Soren, don’t put it for authentication. Don’t take risk for it to leak to public. I’m not asking for me–do it for the baby. Our baby. Do you really want your child to grow up being mocked and humiliated?”)
Just as I expected, Soren hesitated
Then he turned to me, cold as ice. “Fran, you’re making false accusations and defaming Alison with a fabricated video. If you don’t stop this right now, I swear I’ll make sure you never breathe free air again.”
I knew exactly what he was trying to do–force me to take the fall. And I knew he had the power to follow through on that threat
But I wasn’t afraid S
In fact, I started laughing. “Oh poor Soren. Your wife’s never been honest with you, huh?
With that, I pulled up the hospital footage and shoved my phone in front of his face.
There was Owen, sneaking out of the urology wing, clutching a discreet little medical bag. Soren’s face turned ghostly pale.
“What is this?” he asked, his voice hoarse.)
I shrugged. “Nothing important. Just thought you’d appreciate not being kept in the dark.”
“You believe your darling wife is Innocent, right? Then this should mean nothing to you.”
I tucked my phone away and turned to leave. Soren snapped. He rushed after me and grabbed my arm, panic written all over his face.
“What the hell was that? What does that man have to do with this?” he hissed
I yanked my arm free and shook my head. “That’s confidential. My ethical code forbids me from saying more about him. But you’re a man of resources–it won’t be hard for you to figure it out. All you need is a little digging.”
And just like that, I walked away, leaving them to stew in their own mess.
Behind me, I heard Soren bark out cold orders. “Don’t let either of them leave the hospital. Lock them down–now.“}
Alison and Aunt Hannah were immediately placed under watch, not allowed to step outside the building &
And Soren? Well, he got to work fast!
Didn’t take long for him to uncover the truth
Turns out, Owen wasn’t just some sketchy guy. He had a full–blown STD–one of the nastiest kinds. The kind you carry for life.3
Panicked, Soren ordered his private physician to run full–body tests on both him and Alison.
The results were even worse than he feared
They were both infected.
The doctor told him Alison had likely shown symptoms as early as two months before their wedding.
Soren flew into a rage. He ordered her dragged into the bathroom to be scrubbed clean, as if that would somehow undo what had already been done. I
And sure enough, once her clothes were stripped off, the angry red rashes across her body told the story she’d been hiding.X
Two months before the wedding. I remembered. She had called me in a panic, said she needed help with a rash. I gave her something to stop the itching and a few anti–inflammatory creams, thinking it was just a stress reaction.
Every morning, her makeup artist had covered the marks. She never missed a day
She had hidden everything so well–until now!
And Soren, blinded by love or whatever delusion he’d been clinging to, had never noticed a thing
