Lingering Rain, Lingering Love 10

Chapter 10

Rebecca pulled up outside Southquay Villa to see there was already a row of cars there. She looked at the empty entrance, wondering where Morgan was

Hadn’t he said he’d prepared a surprise? Why wasn’t he even at the door to welcome her now that she was divorced and free

Feeling confused, she pushed open the door to the abnormally silent villa. The door swung open with a thud, and a lighthearted piano melody immediately rang

out

The lights were suddenly flipped on in the dark living room, revealing the scene that had been hidden in the darkness

Pink and white roses lined the living room, filling it with their faint fragrance. Countless familiar or unknown people smiled at her as they pushed a towering castle -shaped cake into the room

Morgan wore a tuxedo as he sat before the piano. His handsome face was focused as his fingers flew over the piano keys, seamlessly playing a tune

Rebecca’s heart skipped several beats when she saw this dreamlike scene from the door. She felt like she’d been enveloped headed toward the piano

She took step after step, finally stopping by the piano as Morgan played the last note. He looked

The guests erupted into cheers as soon as he finished uttering the words

Rebecca, fresh out of a divorce, wasn’t used to things being so noisy and excited. She pressed her lips together as a trace of embarrassment flashed in her eyes. Morgan smiled when he saw her ears had turned red. He got up and pulled her into his arms

The cheers grew louder. As she buried her face in his neck, she heard him whisper, You said you would make things official with me, Becks. Do those words still count?”

She was taken aback and looked up at him in surprise. Then, seeing the serious look in his eyes, she nodded

Morgan pulled away from her and stepped back a couple of steps before getting down on one knee. The crowd’s cheers grew even louder when they saw this, nearly blowing the roof with their gasps and squeals

Rebecca’s breathing hitched as she watched Morgan pull out a box from his pocket. He opened it to reveal a bright, pure diamond ring. Only then did she understand why he’d orchestrated such an elaborate surprise and asked her that earlier

As expected, he grasped her hand and pressed a featherlight kiss to her right ring finger. Then, as everyone watched, he asked sincerely, Are you willing to give me a chance to be your fiancé, Becks?”

Everyone held their breath as he proposed. Then, they started chanting in unison, urging her to say yes

Rebecca’s heart raced as she listened to their chanting. She looked into Morgan’s expectant eyes, memories of the time they’d spent together flashing in her mind. The first time they’d met, he’d reached out to steady her in her drunken hazeshe’d gone to the bar to drown her sorrows in liquor. He’d also gently wiped away her tears when she’d sobbed uncontrollably

When she’d suggested making him her sugar baby, he’d happily thrown his anns around her and said it was his honor to have caught her eye

He’d been by her side through countless sleepless nights. He’d talked to her about everything under the sun to cheer her up…

Morgan had made Rebecca believe that her life hadn’t yet reached its end. She still had a chance and the energy to start over. He’d also made her believe that the love she could give wouldn’t wilt away in a loveless marriage. It would be reborn from the ashes when she was with the right person

She’d finally crossed over into the dawn after struggling in the horrific night, and Morgan had been the one to get her through it. He also waited for her at the end. And so, Rebecca’s doubts about the future and unease over another marriage no longer mattered, because Morgan was the one she would be doing it with. She decided to follow her heart and give him a firm answer. I do.”
