Chapter 19
Rebecca’s statement landed like a bombshell in Stephan’s ears, leaving him stunned and motionless. His mind went blank, with all thought processes seemingly suspended as he could only mechanically ask, “What do you mean by fiancé?”
Under Stephan’s incredulous gaze, Rebecca calmly nodded, then turned and called out into the crowd. “Morgan!”
In the very next instant, Morgan, who had just been acting high–and–mighty, reverted to his docile demeanor. He then peeked out from the crowd and innocently batted his eyes, asking, “Why are you back so soon, Becks?”
Rebecca could sense the flicker of guilt in his tone. She had a multitude of questions for him, but she knew this wasn’t the right time. She quelled her burgeoning doubts and gestured for him to come over.
Morgan immediately scurried to her side, instinctively offering his hand to help her down from the planter.
Upon seeing their familiar, intimate dynamic, Stephan’s stunned expression visibly crumbled. He clenched his fists, staring in utter disbelief at their clasped hands. His voice rose, shrill and disbelieving, as he asked, “You’re telling me that this guy is your fiancé?”
Rebecca gently turned Morgan’s hand over, bringing the two gleaming, matching rings into Stephan’s view. “You got a problem with that?”
That flippant remark of hers immediately set off Stephan’s fury. “It’s barely been a week since our divorce!”
Rebecca regarded him indifferently and said flatly, “It has actually been 35 days–if you include the divorce cooling–off period.”
That remark effectively rendered Stephan speechless.
He had spent the past few days at the law firm, meticulously reviewing the divorce agreement in hopes of discovering a loophole. Yet, despite the collective efforts of over a dozen top–tier lawyers, they came up empty–handed.
He had even reached out to Rebecca’s lawyer, hoping to negotiate the annulment of the agreement. However, the opposing side was unyielding, simply stating that they would take the case to court if he refused to settle the divorce amicably.
It was clear to Stephan that Rebecca was behind this firm stance. It was also then that he realized that he was the only one who could undo what had been done.
He had no choice but to gather himself and seek her out, following her all the way abroad. He genuinely believed that upon locating her, a sincere apology and a reminder of their five years together would be enough to sway her and win her back.
Yet, reality had dealt him a cruel and final blow. Barely days after their divorce, she had already agreed to marry someone else.
He stared intently at Morgan’s face, suddenly triggering a rapid flashback of temporarily forgotten moments–the social media post, the man proposing, and that familiar silhouette that looked so much like Rebecca/
It was only then that he realized that he had actually seen the video of their proposal. He had been so engrossed in his playful banter with Giselle that he had no idea that Rebecca had already committed to the divorce then.
In that moment, the excruciating torment that had gnawed at him rushed back with full force, instantly snuffing out his last flicker of hope.
He met her eyes, now devoid of warmth or

Rebecca?”
Rebecca remained unruffled by Morgan and Stephan’s gazes, each carrying profound and distinct implications. She was entirely prepared with her response, after
