Chapter 16
inside the house, Jason was still right by Yara’s side.
He said, “Yara, you’re finally back. Don’t you want me to take you out and show you around?”
Yara let out a soft sigh. She and Jason hadn’t really spent much time together over the years. Since he was adopted, his identity was kept private. Besides, they never attended the same schools, and their only shared memories dated back to childhood.
She couldn’t figure out what he even liked about her, especially since they were supposed to be siblings.
She turned around and gently pushed him away. “Jason, I know you’re running most of the family business now, and you must be really busy. You don’t need to make a special trip just for me. I’ve come to terms with everything now.”
Jason didn’t seem upset at all. He just pulled out a chair and sat down.
“My assistants handle most things at the company. It’s not a big deal. Now that you’re feelings right now, but please don’t think of me as just your brother,” he said seriously.
I just want to spend more time with you. I know you can’t accept my
That made Yara feel a bit awkward. She sat down across from him and couldn’t help but ask, “Jason, what is it that you like about me? We haven’t even seen each other in years.”
As soon as her parents learned she was divorced, they hadn’t said anything, but Jason came over as soon as he found out.
She had always thought their relationship was just family, nothing more. When Jason suddenly confessed that he liked her, Yara’s first instinct was to back away.
Jason and Yelena were both adopted. Bryce could fall in love with Yelena, but Yara couldn’t accept Jason’s feelings for her.
However, Jason didn’t give up, and his persistence made her a little curious.
Jason smiled as he reminisced. “Yara, do you remember when I first joined the family? Nobody liked me, but you were the only one who patiently taught me how to act, how to eat at the table, and how to deal with grown–ups.
“Later, when I got sent away, the family just let me do my own thing, but you always checked in on me to make sure I was okay.”
Those memories started coming back, and Yara had never thought her kindness would matter so much to him.
She said, “I only ever saw you as family. Even though we’re not related by blood, you’re in charge of the family business now. We just can’t be together.”
Jason shook his head and lowered his voice. “The business has never meant as much to me as accept this right now, but can’t we just spend time together and see how it goes?
as you do. If you wanted me to, I’d give everything up. I know you can’t
“If you really don’t have any feelings for me, I promise I’ll never bother you. I’ll stay out of your way and keep the company running smoothly. I’ll make money for you and give you whatever you want. Just give me a chance, Yara.”
His gentle tone reminded her of the little boy he once was, and she couldn’t help but smile.
If Bryce could be with his sister, then why couldn’t she give her brother a chance?
Yara wasn’t sure exactly what she was feeling, but she agreed to Jason’s request.
For a moment, Jason’s face lit up with excitement. Though he tried to keep calm, he couldn’t hide how happy he felt.
“Yara, I’m serious about this. Come with me. Once you see what I have to show you, you’ll understand why I hope you’ll reall
As he spoke, he led her step by step upstairs to a room on the second floor, a room that had always been kept locked.
Jason gestured for her to open the door, his gaze soft and gentle.
Somehow, Yara felt she knew what was about to happen, but she couldn’t stop her hand from turning the doorknob.
The moment she walked in, what she saw nearly took her breath away.
consider this.”
The entire room was filled with photos of her. There were pictures from her childhood all the way up to now, and many even had little notes about what she had been doing at the time.
She saw herself at eight years old, teaching Jason how to use a knife and fork.
At ten years old, she was laughing, her arms wrapped around his neck as he carried her on his back.
At 12 years old, her eyes were red from crying as they said goodbye to each other.
After that, there were no more pictures of the two of them together, but Jason had still quietly followed her life from a distance.
All those childhood memories came rushing back, like flipping through a box of old photos and brushing the dust off her past.
She realized that before she even inet Bryce, she and Jason had actually been so close.
Now, the boy she used to know had grown into a man
Jason stood quietly by her side and spoke in a low voice. “Yara, I’ve been thinking about you all these years. I’m just grateful I waited long enough for you. Would you give me a chance?”
Over the past few days, Yara had seen just how much Jason cared for her. She couldn’t say she didn’t have feelings for him, but the whole thing still felt unreal. After all, they were siblings.
If she really chose to be with him, the consequences could be huge. She couldn’t help but wonder if this was just another trap,
She wasn’t that brave. She didn’t know if she was ready to gamble the rest of her life.
But when she saw the honesty and longing in Jason’s eyes, she felt her heart beating faster.

After a moment’s hesitation, she finally gave a small nod. “Okay.” That single word made Jason’s eyes light up with pure joy.
