“No, Jude, I finally found you. I won’t let you leave me again. I haven’t signed the divorce papers–you’re still my
wife,” Vincent said.
Jared was so enraged he wanted to rush over and punch Vincent, but I stopped him. I didn’t want him to dis
hands.
I turned to Vincent, giving him a sarcastic smile.
“So, what do you want now? For me to go back and continue being your wife? Vincent, I’ve lost eight children, I can’t get pregnant anymore and I can’t provide your precious Estelle with any more ‘nourishment.‘ She must’ve already given birth to your child by now. Why are you still here looking for me?”
Vincent’s face went pale and he quickly shook his head. “No, Jude, I never thought that.”
“And our children’s bodies? They weren’t from me. She bribed the people in my circles to hurt you. I would never
interrupted him with a cold laugh.
“So what? Just because it wasn’t you who took them, you’re innocent now? And that makes it okay for you to be
forgiven?
“She may steal my children’s bodies, but it was you who killed them. Do you not find it utterly ridiculous to say
that just now?”
Vincent’s eyes were filled with guilt. “Jude, I’m sorry! I really know I was wrong.”
“I’ve already taken care of the child Estelle was carrying. She won’t interfere with us anymore! If you want, I can even fight for the CEO position. Jude, as long as you come back with me, I’ll do anything.”
I looked into his tear–filled eyes and emphasized every word, “Then go away and die.”
“What?” Vincent froze, his eyes wide in disbelief.
“Didn’t you say you’d do anything? Then go away and die. Go pay for the lives of my children.”
For the first time, I saw Vincent at a loss for words. “Jude, do you hate me that much?”
“Yes, I don’t just hate you, I am disgusted at you. The sight of you literally makes me sick. So, get as far away from me as you can. Got it?”
Vincent seemed to be struck by a heavy blow as he knelt in front of me, tears streaming down his face.
I looked down at him quietly, I could care less.
“Vincent, when I married you, I truly think of spending my life with you. But what about you? For Estelle, you made me lose my child more than once, watching my body grow weaker with each passing day, subjecting me to the ridicule of your mother and others.”
“Even then, I begged you. I begged you not to make me drink that milk. Yet, you still forced me to.”
“I never cared about being ‘Mrs. CEO‘. Whether you were rich or poor, it didn’t matter to me. Even this position of yours as your wife–if you had just told me, I would have stepped aside. I would have taken our child and left, never to stand in your way. But you didn’t say anything! You took it upon yourself to strip me of the right to be a mother. making me endure the pain of losing our children over and over.”
“Vincent, admit it. Deep in your heart, you never saw me as a person.”
Vincent shook his head. “No, it’s not like that…,” he cried
“Vincent, I’m doing fine now. I’ve never felt so free and happy in my life before leaving you. If you truly want to make it up to me, just sign the divorce papers and then never show up in front of me again.”
With that, I left him alone without looking back.
Jared grabbed a basket full of fish and shrimp, still smelling strongly of the sea. He poured it over Vincent’s head, swinging the basket onto his body hard.
“Vincent, if you still have any decency left, let Jude go and stop bothering her.”
Vincent knelt there for quite a while, ignoring the people who pointed at him and whispered about him. It wasn’t until late into the night, he finally fell unconscious.
