Vincent eagerly clicked on the message, but after hearing its contents, his face turned pale.
Turned out, Judith had known everything that night. No wonder she had begged him not to let her drink that glass of milk.
But what had he done?
“Hello? Mr. Long, are you there? If you have time, please bring the Madam in for a follow–up check–up.”
“She… she can’t come.”
“What?”
Vincent’s voice broke with a hint of sobbing.
“Jude knows everything. She’s gone…”

At that moment, I was already on the other side of the ocean.
く
As soon as I got off the plane, I spotted my old friend, Jared Weber, in the distance.

After I explained everything to him, Jared rolled up his sleeves, furious, ready to fly back to confront Vincent and Estelle to death.
I stopped him. “Forget it, Jared. I’ve already left the divorce papers. I never want to be involved with them again.” Jared pulled me into a comforting hug.
“It’s okay. Leaving that scumbag is for the best. Who knows, you might’ve ended up dead one day because of him. Let him and that Estelle bitch rot away together. You’re talented and beautiful. Remember, back in college, directors were fighting over the scripts you wrote. If it weren’t for that bastard Vincent, you’d already be a top screenwriter by now.”
A bitter feeling washed over me.
Jared and I had both majored in screenwriting. We were hailed by our professors as the future stars of the industry.
Jared was a firm believer in not getting married. He moved abroad right after graduation to pursue his career.
As for me, I had just married Vincent when I got pregnant with our first child. Vincent said that he was worried about my safety and wouldn’t let me work in the end. He insisted I stay home to focus on the pregnancy.
Since then, I had been trapped in a nightmare of constant pregnancies and miscarriages.
Thankfully, I had finally clawed my way out of that nightmare.
Jared told me she had a project on hand but couldn’t handle it alone and she was hoping I could collaborate with her, splitting the profits fifty–fifty.
I smiled and nodded. After all, being a screenwriter had always been my dream..
“But before that, let’s have some fun! The script can be written anywhere. My last project sold for big money, so you can join me in reaping the rewards!”
We had promised each other back in college that we’d travel the world together and now, finally, that dream could
come true.
While Jared and I ran around the world, eating, drinking and having fun, back in the country, Vincent was going crazy trying to find me.
He had never missed a day of work in the past, but this time he hadn’t been to the office in ages.
Meanwhile, Kenneth was preparing to take over as the CEO, desperately trying to impress Gerald, the current head of the Long Family… as well as his and Vincent’s father.
Unfortunately, some of the projects were Vincent’s responsibility and only he knew the details. However, he wasn’t going to the office or answering any calls, leaving Kenneth in a difficult predicament.
In the end, Kenneth made few meaningful arrangements for the company. After several poor decisions, Gerald scolded him harshly, which led to the delay in transferring the CEO title.
By then, Estelle was in the later stages of pregnancy. He came to seek Vincent, hoping he would return to the company and help out. After all, she didn’t want to see an opportunity slip away.
“Vince, still no word from Judith? Does she really have to throw a tantrum at times like this? There’s got to be a limit to her behavior! Just because of her, the whole company’s in chaos and you’ve been working yourself to the
bone…”
“Fuck you! I’m not in the mood to deal with you. You still got the nerve to suck up to me? The company’s a mess because Kenneth is incompetent, not because of Jude!” Vincent shouted.
He had never raised his voice at Estelle, let alone cursed at her. Estelle was so startled that her eyes filling with
tears as she pouted.
“Vince, I’m just worried about you. Why are you yelling at me? You’re scaring me…”
Vincent sneered, then suddenly grabbed her by the neck, his smile chilling.
“Estelle, why are you still acting all innocent? Are you scared? You dared to treat Jude’s flesh and blood like
nutritious food and now you’re scared?!”
