Chapter 8
Samuel got off the call without sensing anything amiss. Meanwhile, Jessica was rather unhappy
“The days of me having you all to myself have come to an end so quickly. We’ll have to start soaking around again,” she grumbled Hearing that, Samuel said warningly, “Don’t let Emily sense that something’s up between us. You know what’ll happen if you do.”
Jessica teared up “Yes, yes, I got it. You’ve said that countless times now.”
Once Samuel noticed that Jessica was about to cry, he finally coaxed her, “You shouldn’t cry when you’re pregnant. It’s bad for the baby.”
“But you were mean to me just now.”
“I’ll make it up to you. I’ll get you a bag. Which one do you want?”
Jessica looked up at him and said, “Let’s head to the office and do it one more time before you head home.”
Samuel wasn’t quite keen on that. “There’s not enough time. I told Emmy that I’ll be home in two hours.”
“You can always say you ran into traffic on the way. After all, there’s always heavy traffic on the highway from the airport.”
Samuel checked his watch, still feeling hesitant. Jessica wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him. Though he tried to push her away at first, he soon held her close and began kissing her fiercely. Sure enough, their passionate kiss stirred up his desire.
“You little vixen,” he said with a hoarse chuckle.
Delighted, Jessica urged, “Come on. Let’s go. We’ll head back to the office and go crazy one last time…”
Samuel responded by scooping her up and hurrying toward the basement parking lot.
Giggling away in his arms, Jessica reminded him, “Our luggage…”
“Leave it,” Samuel said impatiently.
The two had a quickie in the car before heading back to the office, where they spent two hours going at it. Once it was all over, Samuel finally remembered to give Emily a call.
“Sorry. The number you have dialed is currently unavailable. Please try again later.”
Samuel felt that something was off. Emily never turned off her phone.
Jessica, who had just prepared a cup of coffee for Samuel, came in and sat right on his lap.
“What’s there to worry about? Her phone probably ran out of battery,” she said before purposely snuggling up against him. “I made this coffee for you myself. Shall I feed it to you?”
Everything was the same as it once was, but for some reason, Samuel felt like something was wrong. It was as if something was missing. Even the temperature of the coffee felt wrong. Frowning, he said, “Forget about the coffee. Bring me a cup of tea instead.”
“Are you looking to switch things up again, Mr. Porter?” Jessica said coquettishly as she continued to press herself against him.
Her use of the word “again” irked Samuel.
“Stop messing around. I’m not in the mood,” he said grimly.
“Oh, you. You’re making a fuss over nothing! She’s alone at home. What could possibly happen?” Jessica complained.
By now, Samuel was genuinely annoyed. “Go and change it now. Don’t make me repeat myself a third time.”
This time, Jessica dared not say another word. She immediately scampered off to do as told. She wanted to make herself seem like the gentle and understanding type, so she definitely couldn’t go against him.
When Luke Holden, Samuel’s assistant, came in with Samuel’s schedule, he was just as cautious. “It’s almost time for your meeting this afternoon, Mr. Porter.”
Samuel had planned on heading home to Emily and sharing a meal with her before rushing back to the office for work. There had been plenty of time to spare when he first came up with that plan, but he ended up using all of his time fooling around with Jessica.
Now that the meeting was starting soon, he didn’t have time to head home.
“When does the meeting start?” Samuel asked while glancing through his work schedule.
“In about an hour,” Luke reported after quickly making the calculations.
Rising to his feet, Samuel said, “I’m going to head home for a bit. If I’m not back before the meeting starts, go ahead without me. Tell them to proceed as usual.”
He didn’t even give a reason for his departure. Instead, he grabbed his keys and began heading off alone without even calling for his driver.
Alarm bells went off in Jessica’s head. She rushed to the entrance to stop him. Grabbing his arm, she said coyly, “I’m here, aren’t I? Why are you heading off to look for another woman?”
Being in a bad mood, Samuel certainly didn’t have the patience to placate Jessica. Shaking her hands off him, he said, “Don’t ever say something like that
again
Jessica pented “Why not? I don’t want to share you with another wornan ”
As soon as those words came out of her month, Luke immediately started panicking 1is eyes flittel arrand in desperation If not for the fart that the windows were all bolted stout, and also the fact that they were over 40 stories in the air, he would’ve jumped out of one of the windows try norm
Samuel turned to the able and looked at Jessica with a stern, grim expression. His tone was warning as he said, “Right from the very beginning, I told you to never forget your place. Emily is my wife. She will always be Mrs. Porter,”
