Chapter 21
After Shyla left with Lara, Calvin sat alone in the compartment until it got dark.
He left the restaurant in a daze, only compensating for the damaged items when the waiter came in to clean up and respectfully informed him that they were closing
In the pitch–black night, streetlights lit up everywhere.
As soon as I opened my phone, there were over a hundred missed calls and 99 unread messages.
There were those with Rosa, those with parents, those with friends, and those with the emcee
Emcee?
Oh, by the way, today was the day he got married, and he forgot all about it.
Does it really matter if you remember or not?
This wedding was originally fake, it was a play he orchestrated with Rosa to put an end to Shyla’s delusions about hine
He obtained what he sought effortlessly, so there was no need for this wedding to exist
The thought of enduring
g discomfort and watching Rosa show affection for each other for the past two months made Calvin feel
ridiculous.
Laughing foolishly, he was, however, engulfed by pain and regret in his heart.
Tears surged and flowed silently, dropping onto this unfamiliar land
The jarring sound of the bell rang at an inappropriate time
Looking at the number above, he remained silent for a while and answered the call
“Damn it! Today is your wedding with Rosa, a grand event where all the guests gather, and you dare to treat it as a joke! No matter where you are, come back to me immediately, right now!”
Harold Gutierrez’s roar almost pierced Calvin’s eardrums.
However, he remained indifferent like dead ashes, and succinctly uttered a sentence that made Harold even angrier.
“Can’t go back, wor
get married.”
“You said you won’t get married if you don’t want to? How old are you? You’re already 31 this year! In previous years, we never rushed you, but now everything is ready and you still refuse to get married. Can you face Rosa? Can you face me and your brother? Can you face the Meadows family who has been worried for so long?”
In the face of his father’s raging anger, Calvin’s eyes were filled with silence, as if he heard nothing
The sound of cursing in the phone continued.
He dared not hang up, nor did he want to listen, so he simply turned the volume down to the lowest and put it in his pocket.
Then, they hailed a car on the roadside and gave the address of the Moran family.
Calvin had already lost the ability to think and acted solely on instinct
At that moment, there was only one thought in his mind.
He wanted to see Shyla.
Because only when he was by her side, he had the courage to let go of the identity of the Gutierrez family, and he could freely and comfortably be himself.
When Calvin called, Shyla was playing hide–and–seek with Lara, so Ariella answered the phone.
“Shyla, I was outside Ariella’s house, come out and let’s talk properly.”
The sentence ended, and the phone hung up.

Ariella frowned as she watched the two sisters playing i
in the distance, without interrupting them.
She put down her phone, turned around and went downstairs. As soon as she pushed open the villa gate, she saw Calvin’s figure under the streetlight
He saw her approaching, and his hand, which had been in his pocket, came out, and his body instantly tensed up.
“Ariella? Where is Shyla?”
Ariella did not answer him. She stared at him from top to bottom over and over again, and had to admit that her younger brother, a few years younger than her, had indeed matured under the influence of time and exuded the charm of a grown man.
He stood tall with a striking appearance, and his personality was also good. He was neither reckless like a seventeen or eighteen–year–old boy, nor slick like a forty–year–old man
Everything was just fine, it was the age that could attract young girls who were inexperienced in the ways of the world
When Shyla was young, she encountered an accident and didn’t have the guidance and direction of elders around her. It is understandable that she made some wrong choices at that time.
But this excuse did not apply to Calvin.
Because he had already passed the age of being in his prime.
