Chapter 24
Ever since the butler found out that Ms. Moran was not running away
way from home but had moved abroad, his brows have been furrowed
every day.
In the past, when there was Ms. Moran present, if they made a mistake, Ms. Moran would help to intercede.
As long as Ms. Moran spoke, no matter how big the mistake, Mr. Gutierrez would let it go.
Now that she is no longer here, it is the group of workers below who suffer.
For some unknown reason, Mr. Gutierrez has been not only gloomy these days but also fond of finding faults.
The chef did not cook polenta in the morning, and Mr. Gutierrez was about to lose his temper. The chef could only rush to work in a fluster, muttering to himself, “Ms. Moran is not here, and Mr. Gutierrez, you don’t like to drink polenta. Isn’t it right not to cook polenta?”
The gardener trimmed the two trees in the yard and he lost two months‘ salary directly. The gardener couldn’t figure out why, these two trees were planted by Ms. Moran before she left, and she repeatedly urged to trim them diligently in order to grow taller. Did I do something wrong?
The secretary threw away the broken pen, and his gaze was as if he wanted to kill someone. Worried, the secretary rushed to the garbage dump overnight to search for it, tears streaming down his face from the foul smell. He didn’t understand what was so precious about a pen that had been used for eight years.
The people below were living in fear, and Calvin couldn’t muster up any energy. He took a half–month vacation but stayed lying in his bedroom the whole time, not even stepping out of the door.
After Rosa’s wedding plans fell through, Harold was so angry that he had a high blood pressure attack. He instructed his assistant to take him back to his old mansion to get some answers.
Adhering to the principle of rather offending the boss than the immediate superior, the assistant racked his brains and came up with countless excuses to deceive.
Finally, Harold was successfully provoked, and he gave her an ultimatum to bring the person back within a day, or else she would be kicked out
She mustered up the courage and knocked on Calvin’s bedroom door.
Perhaps after resting for a long time, his mood improved a lot. After listening to the whole story, he didn’t bother her anymore. He changed his clothes and went back to the old house
The conversation lasted for ten hours.
When Calvin came out again, it was already dark.
His face was calm, and the assistant couldn’t tell his mood from his expression. All they could do was politely open the car door
He, however, stood still in his place, looked up at the intensely dark sky, and asked a very strange question.
“With so many dark clouds in the sky, can the stars still see what is happening on earth?”
The assistant’s mind was urgently turning
It is said that after death, people will become stars. Mr. Gutierrez’s question should be about the deceased.
He had just finished talking to Harold, and maybe they had talked about the deceased member of the Gutierrez family. Asking like this should be missing their loved ones.
The assistant felt that his inference was normal and confidently answered him.
|_ Visible, Mr, Gutierrez ”
Calvin immediately lowered his head and looked at her with a gloomy expression, which frightened her and made her quickly change
her words
“What? Can’t you see?”
Her fawning attitude made Calvin a little angry.
He was about to find an excuse to reprimand her, but the assistant quickly pulled out the get–out–of–jail–free card.
A plane ticket, with the destination written as Landhall.
Calvin’s anger dissipated in an instant, leaving a complex expression on his face.
“What does it mean?”
Although the assistant didn’t dare to lift his head, he came up with excuses effortlessly.
“Tomorrow, Hedgeview University is going to hold a freshman orientation ceremony, and Ms. Moran is going to attend. I personally believe that it is necessary for you as a relative to attend such an occasion, so I took the liberty of buying the plane tickets in advance
The second half of the sentence, “If you’re not available, I’ll go return it right away,” got stuck in his throat, but Calvin had already gotten into the car.
After clasping her hands together in gratitude and thanking Ms. Moran for saving her life, the assistant got into the car and instructed the driver.
“Go to the airport.”
