Chapter 25
After the opening ceremony, Shyla saw Ariella and her family off at the school and then turned back to the college.
Just as she reached the doorway, she looked up and collided with a pair of familiar eyes,
I don’t know why, but after completely letting go, whenever she saw Calvin again, she would always feel a sense of guilt as if she had been caught by her parents for doing something wrong
She felt the same way as when she secretly pave her mother’s necklace to her classmate and was discovered.
Is this the dignity from the elders?
Coming face to face, she couldn’t pretend not to have seen, so she had to muster up the courage to greet them.
“Uncle, how slid you come?”
As Calvin watched her evasive gaze, a slight pang of pain arose in his heart.
But he forcefully suppressed the surging emotions and pretended to be calm.
“Come and see the opening ceremony,
Shyla nodded silently, without saying anything further.
The two people remained silent as they slowly entered the college
This silent moment made Calvin feel uncomfortable, so he casually brought up a topic.
“How did you learn sculpture? I thought you liked painting. Why didn’t you continue to further your studies?”
Shyla’s expression froze, and she managed to force a smile.
“Being blacklisted by the industry, I decided to try a different path”
Calvan then remembered that plagiarism incident.
Guilt surged like a tide, his chest telt heavy, and he couldn’t catch his breath no matter what
After a few minutes of silence, he mustered up
up the courage to say, “I’m sorry.”
Unfortunately, this apology came too late, too late. Shyla no longer needed it.
It was the grace of nurturing for over a decade, she couldn’t blame him, she could only smile bitterly and shake her head.
“It’s okay, it’s all in the past, and the sculpture is also very good.”
Has it all really passed?
Calvin lonew that even if he clarified the facts now, this matter would never be over.
The dirty water splashed on Shyla can be washed away, but the damage it caused to her will remain like cracks on a broken mirror, forever unable to be erased.
The joy that was born from seeing her was replaced by guilt and regret at this moment..
Even the long corridor in front of him became a torture chamber that pierced him.
He could no longer steal this moment of joy without losing face, so he hastily found an excuse to leave.
Shyla called out to him.
He turned around with a tangled heart and saw her pair of clear eyes.
She stood with her hands behind her back, speaking with a sincere and earnest tone
“Uncle, the day you slept in my rooms, it really wasn’t me who helped you in. You got drunk and remembered the way wrong.
Calvin didn’t expect that she still remembered this matter.
I didn’t expect her to bring up this matter and explain it so seriously.
No one knew the truth better than him.
He really wanted to say it out regardless, but reason told him he couldn’t.
He had promised Ariella to keep the secret, and he carried the future of the entire Gutierrez family on his shoulders. He couldn’t put Shyla in the fire.
She was still young, with an immeasurable future ahead of her. He couldn’t selfishly ruin her life and let her be caught in the whirlpool of public opinion again after losing her family.
Everything was a reason that could bind him.
So he closed his eyes, filled with tears, and a smile appeared on his lips, expressing an unknown emotion.
“I remembered, that day I drank too much, it had nothing to do with you, I’m sorry, Shyla.”
Upon hearing his response, Shyla telt the last bit of burden in her heart lifted.
A bright smile blossomed on her face as she raised her hand and waved at him.
“Have a safe journey, goodbye, uncle.”
Calvin nodded slightly without replying to her, watching as she hopped and skipped away slowly, heading towards her own future.
When her figure disappeared around the corner, a stream of tears unexpectedly fell down, landing on the tender green grass leaves, swaying and pretending to be dewdrops
The assistant called out a few times from behind.
When Calvin turned around again, he had put on the mask that belonged to the heir of the Gutierrez Group.
Before getting in the car, he gave an order, asking his assistant to do it immediately.
“Let’s release all the evidence of Rosa’s plagiarism.”
