Book3–Chapter 1
When I was suffering from severe morning sickness, Malcolm Foster’s childhood friend mocked me, saying I looked like a toad.
I made her shut up in despair, but she cried in grievance.
As a result, Malcolm flew into a rage and, after scolding me, kicked me out of the house.
Until evening, he finally sent a message: “Have you calmed down? If you have,
you can come back.”
I stared at their candlelit dinner outside the house, ignoring the message.
And I went to the hospital without hesitation.
The surgery was not as painful as I had imagined, and after a few hours of rest, I went back home.
When the door was opened, Malcolm was still awake.
After seeing me, he quickly stood up and his tone was angry.
“Valerie, Ashley was just joking. Why did you come back so late?”
Ever since I got pregnant, Ashley Jimenez had made such jokes countless times
“Valerie, the days when you were pregnant were not very good, a bit unlucky.”
“Valerie, you now have a baby on the way. You couldn’t eat these things while pregnant.”
“Valerie, it’s only been a few months and your figure has already changed.” But whenever I showed a hint of unhappiness, Malcolm
would always join Ashley in mocking me.
I, on the other hand, was trembling with anger and arguing with him hysterically.
But from now on, it would never happen again.
Malcolm thought my silence was due to guilt and he smiled satisfactorily.
He casually said, “Collect the tableware and plates on the table.”
I glanced and saw that the food on the table was what I had cooked today.
Before Thad a chance to eat, I was kicked out by Malcolm
When I came back, he and Ashley had already finished eating
I didn’t move and continued typing to communicate with the agent about the market price of my house.
This was bought by my parents after I came to this city, but there was no need to keep it now.
Malcolm finished his shower and, upon coming out, he paused for a moment, seeing the still messy state of the table.
Thad always been obedient to him, but this was the first time I had Ignored his words.
He glanced at me, said nothing, and started tidying up by himself.
At that moment, my dog Banjo came running over, whimpering, and whining. It was then that I noticed that it had exaggerated false eyelashes stuck on its eyes and a full face of makeup..
It even had ear clips on its ears, and it kept scratching uncomfortably.
I quickly took off the car clips.
Malcolm sadly commented beside, “Ashley did such a great job on Banjo’s makeup, why did you wipe it off?”
I placed the ear clips on the table and calmly said, “Remember to give it to her, so she won’t accuse others of stealing her things again.”
Malcolm’s face flashed with astonishment, and he opened his mouth, about to say something.
Back Chapter 1
The phone suddenly rang, it was the ringtone for Ashley’s call.
He immediately smiled and went back to the bedroom with his phone.
I then messaged my best friend on WhatsApp and asked her if she could help me temporarily take care of Banjo.
After the communication was completed, I made the bed and went to sleep as usual.
Malcolm looked at me and suddenly said, “You haven’t applied the stretch mark oll yet, let me help you apply it today.”
During my four months‘ pregnancy, he never once did that for me, even though I begged and pleaded.
Just because Ashley said that doing such things would make a grown man a laughingstock.
I looked down at my flattened stomach and shook my head. Malcolm furrowed his brow and looked at me with some unease.
This was clearly something I had longed for, but I rejected calmly.
It was so strange that it made him feel anxious.
Before falling asleep, Malcolm suddenly said, “Valerie, let’s go to the city hall and get registered in a couple of days.”
I breathed steadily and pretended to be asleep.
