Chapter 1 Stop Pretending And Taking What’s Mine
Yvonne Burton’s mind went blank for a moment when she looked at her husband, Shane Craig, who was energetic on the bed, and Maggie Thomas giggling and flirting beneath him.
“Shanel”
They had been married for three years, but Shane had never been intimate with her.
So it wasn’t that he was impotent, but he loved someone else!
“Yvonne, we…” Maggie pretended to push Shane away.
Shane’s back stiffened, his only reaction to being caught in the act.
Instead of stopping, he continued their intimate behavior in front of Yvonne, amidst Maggie’s false protests of “no“.
Maggie concealed her complacency and pretended to explain, “Yvonne, I’m sorry. We just couldn’t help ourselves.”
Yvonne stared at the two of them, her face shifting from shock and embarrassment to calmness.
She took a deep breath, her eyes red, but her expression terrifyingly calm.
“Shane, are you deaf?”
Shane, interrupted in his pleasure, angrily put on his bathrobe and stood up, confronting Yvonne, complaining first.
“Why are you angry? She’s done so much for the company these three years. But what about you? When Ricky just touched your thigh last year, you broke his head, which only held me back!
It was Maggie who helped me secure the permanent partnership with S&T Corp. Shouldn’t I celebrate with her?”
Yvonne couldn’t believe these words were said by Shane.
The Shane she knew was a hardworking and ambitious young man. He was gentle and graceful outside, filial to his parents, loving to his younger
half–brother, and attentive to his wife.
The only issue was their intimate relationship.
But as she cared more about Shane as a person, those flaws didn’t matter.
For three years, he had bettered off.
His mask had been torn off, and he finally stopped pretending.
Yvonne didn’t know whether to cry or laugh. “Are you sure Maggie secured the partnership?”
Shane seemed quite annoyed, barely containing himself with what he thought was good manners. “If not her, then who? You?”
Yvonne curled her lips speechlessly.
Thinking he could control Yvonne, Shane acted rather superior in front of her.
“Don’t worry, I won’t divorce you for now.”
Yvonne looked confused.
Shane continued, “My mom’s not doing well, and Rhett is preparing for his college application. My stepfather is always busy with his friends and has no time for the family. So, you don’t need to work at that advertising company for peanuts anymore. Just take care of them full–time. They’ve had it
tough.”
“They’ve had it tough?”
To accommodate her in–laws, Yvonne rarely traveled for work these three years and tried to come home every night.
Her mother–in–law, Tricia Wells, had irreversibly damaged her liver and kidneys from taking too many supplements, and no medicine in the country could help.
Therefore, Yvonne found the best doctor she knew and used a secret recipe to help Tricia recover.
To ensure Tricia’s better rest, Yvonne never let her worry about the household chores.
Her father–in–law, Erick Wells, was Tricia’s second husband. He loved to idle away in seeking pleasure, often staying out. Yvonne didn’t care.
Her brother–in–law, Rhett Wells, failed his high school application, so she used her connections to get him a coveted spot in a prestigious high school that would lead to a famous foreign university.
She had done so much, but in Shane’s eyes, his family still “had it tough“.
Shane’s face darkened even more as he saw no reaction from Yvonne.
“What’s wrong? Are you still upset? Come on, you’ve been tied to me for three years. Haven’t I treated you well these three years?
Shane said as if he had suffered a great injustice.
“You said you wanted to get married right away so your dad could have surgery in peace, and I didn’t hesitate. Now I just want you to take care of my family. What’s wrong with that?”

Mentioning the marriage, Yvonne felt even more ironic.
“I wanted my dad to have surgery in peace, but you were after the five million dollars I offered and the right to live in this house. So, you think you’re noble?”
Shane sneered. “Don’t bring that up. As long as you take good care of the family, I won’t divorce you. But don’t interfere with the company’s matters. Maggie and I will handle it.
Of course, you can’t interfere with my relationship with Maggie. After all, we’re all adults.”
Yvonne stood there quietly, feeling a hundred times colder than the coldest winter day.
Later, she narrowed her eyes coldly.
Without hesitation, she said,
Okay.
But I will take what’s mine within twelve hours.”
