At an estate in Alrica, a black car slowly drove through the grand entrance and came to a stop. Immediately, a dedicated bodyguard stepped forward to open the door for the person inside
“Mr. Lawton, welcome home.”
Yoel stepped out of the car unhurriedly and his gaze instinctively swept toward the nearby garden. Seeing no one there, he frowned slightly and asked, “Where is Tessa?
“After hearing that you were coming home today, she said she wanted to prepare a grand meal for you. She’s currently busy in the kitchen,” the bodyguard replied truthfully
Yoel nodded in acknowledgment, then picked up the bouquet of roses from the car and walked toward the grand, castle–like mansion. As he reached the kitchen doorway, he spotted Tessa busy cooking inside.
ting the flowers aside, he strode toward her and softly
The cold indifference in his eyes melted instantly, replaced by deep affection. Setting called out, “Honey, I’m home.”
Tessa, who was tending to a simmering pot of soup, paused for a moment before turning around with a warm smile. “Just in time. I made your favorite radish soup and it’ll be ready soon.
Yoel stepped behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist Resting his chin gently on her head, he murmured with concem, “You should leave things like this to the maid. Your body hasn’t fully recovered yet. It’s not good for you to overwork yourself”
Tessa chuckled softly and tumed to face Yoel, looking at him helplessly. “I’m just unable to do heavy work, not completely incapable. Cooking is just a small thing. I can handle it. You don’t have to worry.”
Yoel shook his head and tightened his embrace around her. “But I don’t want you to do anything at all. I’m afraid something like before will happen again..”
Tessa knew exactly what he was referring to. It was the incident from five years ago when she had almost died.
er first, pulled
pulled her
Yoel had told her that five years ago, her artificial heart had failed and she had fallen into a river. It was Yoel who found her f out and used every possible medical resource to give her a new heart that could last her a Sfetime. But when she finally regained consciousness, she realized she had lost all of her past memories. Since the first person she saw upon waking was Yoel, she instinctively regarded him as the closest person to her. Even though her mind was completely blank and she couldn’t find any memories of Voel, she still trusted him without hesitation
It was Yoel who told her that they had known each other for a long time. He explained that she had once saved his life when he was injured and he had always wanted to repay her kindness but never had the chance. Fortunately, fate had brought her back to him! However Yool never told her that her meal name wasn’t Tessa but Karen. He also never mentioned Jason to her.
He knew that Jason had hurt Karen.
Yoel didn’t want her to remember such a person. He only wanted her to start over, to live a peaceful and happy life by his side. Tessa believed every word Yoel told her, firmly convinced that her name was indeed Tessa. Over time, she fell in love with Yoel and after a year together, they got married, making her the young mistress of the Lawton Family.”
She knew that Yoel had always been deeply concerned about the artificial heart inside her, fearing that even the slightest mishap could cause it to fail. This was because Tessa had a frail constitution and a unique physical condition. It made her prone to rejection reactions with the transplanted heart. Even though five years had passed, Yoel still insisted on regular medical check–ups for her and strictly forbade her from doing any strenuous activities. He only wanted her to rest, eat well and focus on recuperating
However, Tessa was naturally energetic and found the routine of “eating and sleeping incredibly dull. As a result, she often secretly did small tasks behind Yoel’s back. Seeing that he couldn’t stop her completely, Yoel eventually compromised, allowing her to plant flowers and paint. These were activities that wouldn’t strain her body.
