Chapter

That snapped me out of it!!

I turned and walked over to him, Nathan had been sitting in the comer all night, too quiet for a guy like him

He stood as I approached

My voice came out sharp. You and Camilla that close now? What gives her the right to have you deliver anything to me?”

He didn’t flinch. Then he reached into his briefcase, pulled out a thick Kraft envelope, and tossed it straight at my chest. Brandon’s POVE

See for yourself, Nathan said

I didn’t wait and tore the envelope open, pulling out the first page

Divorce papers

I scoffed. She wants a divorce? After everything I’ve done for her? I’ve paid for her life, covered her father’s hospital bills for years, and gave her a name that meant something. And now she thought she could just walk away? No warning. No conversation. Just this?”

If this marriage was ending, it was going to be on my terms. Not hers

Nathan didn’t blink. Check the other page.

I ripped it

out still pretending I didn’t care

Medical report

Her name was in bold letters across the top

My eyes scanned the lines lazily at first. Then they landed on the word that stopped everything cold.8

[Pregnant. With twins.

I stared at it. Then again

No. That couldn’t be right. That was impossible

She couldn’t be pregnant. Camilla didn’t even have a uterus anymore. I know this for certain because I signed off on the transplant and gave that organ to Sabrina

She can’tI murmured. That’s notshe can’t be.T

Nathan’s voice was low. Brutal. Congratulations, Brandon. You killed your own children.”

The air left my lungs

The room emptied around me, people filtering out without a word, like they already knew

I didn’t even notice

I just stood there, staring at the report like it was in a foreign language. Like it belonged to someone else

Then something inside me broke

1 grabbed my keys, bolted out the door, and hit the gas like I was outrunning hell itself. Not once did I slow down until I reached Camilla’s old apartment building, her parentsplace, which was two hours outside the city

I ran all six floors. Heart pounding. Knuckles white

When the door opened, a family of three strangers gazed at me

Can we help you?the man asked

And just like that, I knew.t

She sold the place

Quietly Cleanly. Without leaving a trace

Camilla wasn’t just pulling away. She was disappearingerasing herself from every place I’d think to look

Back in the car, I slammed the steering wheel hard enough to make the horn sound

My jaw clenched. My chest was tight

I’d made one mistake. One temble, unforgivable mistake

But I was the father, too. I had a right to know. A right to grieve

Didn’1 17K

Why was she treating me like I was the villain in all of this

She didn’t even give me a chance

So I made calls. Cashed in favors. Dug deep. Nothing. Not a single leadi

Then, finally, something came

An anonymous message, GPS coordinates. No name. No words

Just a pin on a map

It didn’t matter who sent it I didn’t ask questions and just booked a helicopter

ar within the hour

Right before takeoff, Sabrina showed up

Eyes bloodshot. Mascara streaked. Volce cracking.li

2:41 PM ď ď

She grabbed my coat with shaking hands. If you leave nowif you go to herril end this pregnancy Right now I swear

She wasn’t bluffing But I didn’t flinch

I looked her dead in the eyes. If that’s what you wantI won’t stop you

Colder than I meant it. But I wasn’t about to take it back

She recoiled like I’d slapped her. Then came the yelling. The tears

You bastard!she cried, pounding on my chest. I gave up everything for you. My family. My friends. I have no one left but you! And you’re still choosing her? Camilla?!

And then she said it. That Comilla was worthless

And just like that, every ounce of pity I had for her vanished

My voice dropped. Dead calm

that again, I swear to God, I’ll bury you with every

Say whatever you want to me. Scream. Hit me. I’ll take it. But if you say her name like the dirty secret you tried to leave behind overseas. Every lie. Every cover up. I will make sure this city knows who you really are

She opened her mouth. No words came out

Just disbelief

You’re really doing this.. she whispered. You’re choosing her.”

She started laughing. Then crying

Both at the same time
