Lesley’s POV
Chapter 5 Kidnapped/
The moment Trenton uttered those words, I almost laughed.”
“Apologize?” I repeated, staring at him like he had lost his mind.”
He leaned against the car, arms crossed, looking smug despite the bruises Eric had generously left on his face. His right eye was swollen, his lip busted, and yet, he still had the audacity to stand there like a man with leverage.
“You heard me,” he said. “Tell Sophie you’re sorry, and I’ll give you your divorce.“}}
I scoffed. Of course, he was protecting her. I wasn’t even surprised. Sophie had nowhere else to go. Eric must have thrown her out the moment I dropped the bombshell. And now, she was here, playing the fragile victim while my idiot of a husband played her knight in shining armor.
I opened the car door, stepping out.
“Trenton, I don’t need your permission to leave you.” I turned to walk away, my heels crunching against the gravel of the driveway.
Then, the front door slammed open.”
“You!”
Sophie.
She was standing there, barefoot, wrapped in a silk robe like a hobo, a homeless crazy person. Her face was tear–streaked, her hair was a total mess, but her eyes, they were filled with rage.
Why is she angry? I questioned myself and soon enough I got my answer.“]
“You ruined everything!” she screamed. “Because of you, I lost my baby!“>
I stopped in my tracks. My fingers curled into fists.
Oh. So now it was my fault?”
Trenton rushed to her, holding her as she sobbed dramatically against his chest. Pathetic.
I tilted my head, exhaling sharply. “You’re blaming me? Really?”
Sophie snapped. “If you hadn’t told Eric, he wouldn’t have hurt Trenton! If he hadn’t hurt Trenton, I wouldn’t have been stressed! And if I wasn’t stressed, I wouldn’t have lost my child!“}
!felt a cold, sharp rage settle in my chest.
I took a slow step toward her, my voice dangerously calm. “Sophie, let me get this straight. You spread your legs for my husband, got knocked up, and now that karma slapped you back, you want to make me the villain?”
She gasped. Trenton’s face twisted in anger. “Lesley, that’s enough-”
“No, shut up.” I turned my glare on him. “You don’t get to police me after the mess you made.“}]
Sophie trembled. “I hate you.”
I smirked. “Trust me, sweetheart, the feeling is mutual.“>
As I intended to walk away, in a blur I saw her bring out a knife from behind her and launched at me. “You bitch! I’ll kill you!” She shouted, making my eyes widen as a took several steps away from her.“]
“Put the knife down, no one has to get hurt, Sophie.” I screamed at her, looking over at Trenton for some help.
But, the man stood there and watched with pride? In his eyes.”
“Don’t hurt yourself, Soph.” His tone was encouraging and I knew he was edging her on.“]
“The only person getting hurt today is this bitch!” She shook her head as she pointed the knife at me.
Abruptly, she dropped the knife making me sigh in relief, but my breath got caught in my throat as she reached behind her once more and brought out a gun.
“I am done for.”
“Get inside.” Her voice sounded dangerously low, I had no choice but to oblige.
