Chapter 20

James left the bodyguard to protect Naomi’s corpse along with the forensics team, then ran straight into the main hall

At that moment, Jocelyn had just packed her things and was about to get in the car to leave

When she saw James storming toward her with obvious fury, realization hit her, and she hurriedly opened the car door. Just as she was about to get in and close it, James grabbed the door

Jocelyn used all her strength to try to shut it, but she was no match for him. She could only watch as he pulled the door open and dragged her out, tossing her to the ground

How can you be so heartless ?”

Jocelyn! What did Nae ever do to you for you to frame her like this? And now, you can’t even leave her corpse in peace! How

Each word hit Jocelyn like a slap to the face, draining her cheeks of all color

However, she quickly adjusted herself and stood back up. She snapped back, unwilling to back down

I just hate her! Why should I have to act all magnanimous while you two flirt and fool around? She deserved to die!”

With a loud smack, James slapped her across the face. He roared, You’re the one who deserves to die the most!”

With those words, he gave her anothge hard slap. The two blows landed so heavily that her face swelled on the spot, and her hair clung messily to her cheeks

Yet there was still fire in her eyes. She gritted her teeth and sneered. All of this happened because of you! If it weren’t for you, I would never have met Naomi, I wouldn’t be haunted by nightmares every single night because of what I did

All of it happened right under your nose, didn’t it? You allowed it to happen! So what right do you have to hit me now

James Payne, you’re the one who killed Naomi! She should haunt you and drag you down with her!”

James was so angry he couldn’t speak. His chest rose and fell violently as he stared her down

Grabbing Jocelyn by the collar, he growled through clenched teeth. You’ll pay for everything you’ve done.”

Without saying another word, he shoved her into the car, locked the doors, and started the engine. The tires screeched as the car shot forward, raising a cload of dust

Seeing how recklessly fast they were going, focelyn began to panic. She pounded on the car windows, all her usual arrogance and elegance long gone. She looked utterly disheveled her hair a mess, her cheeks swollenand screamed like a madwoman Tames! Let me out! Do you hear me?”

But James ignored her entirely. Instead, he stepped harder on the gas

He was an excellent driver. Even at such a speed, he managed to maneuver around other vehicles. Meanwhile, Jocelynnow pale and silentgripped the door tightly as her face twisted in fear

For a brief moment, James suddenly thought about ending everything. After all, what Jocelyn had said wasn’t entirely wrong

Both at Jeanine Academy and with Jocelyn, all the harm done to Naomi had unfolded right under his nose. It was his very own irresponsibility that led to this tragedy. Among them, he was the one most deserving of death

However, right at the moment he slammed the brakes, his mind finally cleared

James didn’t want to die, at least not just yet. There were still people he hadn’t held accountable. Jocelyn hadn’t paid the price for her actions. And most importantly, he still wanted to see Maori one last time

Even if that meeting might not succeed, even if he was the person Naomi least wanted to see
