They had been high school classmates, and she had been willing to travel thousands of miles to seek out Frederick for surgery. It was clear that she trusted him deeply

“Because you.” Frederick’s voice faltered, then he paused, as if searching for the right words “Because you rejected my confession back then. You said your studies came first, and I… I ended up going abroad.”
He recalled how, before the surgery, Mira had told him not to remind her of Elias. He didn’t want to stir memories so soon after her recovery
“Impossible,” Mira said firmly, her voice steady. “You’re so amazing. How could I have rejected you?” Frederick felt the heat rise to his ears.
