The man knelt before her, opening the ring box dramatically in front of the crowd. “Mira, marry me! I’ll make you the happiest woman in the world!”
In the video, Mira covered her mouth, tears streaming down her face, overwhelmed by emotion.
The man slid the ring onto her finger and lifted her into his arms, spinning her around in joyful celebration
“Mira, do you believe me now?” Elias‘ voice rang out, his eyes bright with excitement. “You and I are husband and wife. We’ve known each other for over ten years! You can’t leave just because of a little argument. And now, you
don’t want me because of amnesia.
His tone was heavy with grievance, but also desperation
The crowd surrounding them quickly understood the situation, and murmurs began to ripple through the onlookers. A few people, sensing the tension, urged Mira to return to Elias
The noise around her grew louder, suffocating in its intensity
Mira’s lips curled into a faint sneer. She stepped forward, holding up the brochure in her hand for everyone to
see “Is this the devoted man you’re talking about? Her voice was sharp, cutting through the silence. “While I was battling a brain tumor, he held a wedding with another woman?”
In the photo she held, Elias was hugging another woman, their lips locked in an intimate kiss
The entire mall fell silent. The tension in the air was palpable.
Sighs echoed from the crowd, and whispers filled the space.
“Sis, you’ve got it all wrong!” A man rushed forward, trying to explain. “The woman in the photo has ALS. She only has two years left to live. Captain Sullivan held a wedding with her to fulfill her last wish. There was no love involved -it was just a performance for her.”
“Exactly, there was no marriage certificate. It was just a play for a terminally ill patient, another voice chin
“Mira, Captain Sullivan might’ve done something wrong, but you can’t just go off with another man so easily,
right?”
For a moment, their words seemed reasonable, but the crowd quickly turned skeptical
“So, he really did marry another woman without telling his wife?”
“Is he really so kind–hearted, or is it just his guilt that’s speaking? Does he have to kiss her in front of everyone for a ‘play‘?”
“You deserve to be forgotten by your wife. You’re a scumbag, and you still have the audacity to claim love?”
The accusations rained down, and Elias‘ panic set in. He reached out, grabbing Mira’s hand with desperate
force. “Mira, please listen to me! It’s all a misunderstanding! Vera. she doesn’t have ALS. She’s been pretending.
playing the victim every day I don’t have any feelings for her anymore!”
His fervent plea only seemed to confirm the damning reality–he had secretly married another woman without
telling his wife.
At first, some of the onlookers had shown sympathy for Elias, but as the truth began to unfold, their expressions
changed, giving way to contempt.
Mira couldn’t hide her disdain.
Though her memory was clouded, the scene before her revealed everything that needed to be understood. This was nothing more than her husband’s betrayal, and her departure was the only way out of the despair that
followed
“You really disgust me,” Mira said coldly, her gaze icy as she fixed him with a stare. “How could I ever have loved someone like you? Forgetting you… it’s fate’s mercy on me. If I had a choice, I would wish we’d never met.”

Without another word, she turned and walked away, her steps firm and unyielding. She didn’t even spare
another glance, as though looking at him once more might make her sick.
Elias stood frozen, a hollow figure lost in the chaos of his own making. His eyes burned with unshed tears, and he heard the murmurs of the crowd around him–harsh words, accusations of him being a scumbag, echoing in his
ears.
Inside, a voice whispered, cruel and unrelenting: Elias, you have completely lost her.
Images of the past flooded his mind, each memory sharp and painful.
He saw himself carrying the weak, dying Mira out of a burning inferno, her tearful gratitude etched on her face.
He remembered their first kiss, the sweetness of it, and how she had blushed and avoided looking at him
afterward, her cheeks flushed with the innocence of it
He relived the moment when he was injured during a school basketball game, and Mira had cried with worry, never leaving his side. Every day, she helped him walk, telling him that when they were old, they would still lean on
each other, their love enduring through the years
But now… all of it felt like a lifetime ago, slipping through his fingers like sand.
