Earlier, in his rush to save me, he’d completely ignored the smell of the basement. Now, looking around, he realized mold grew all over the damp, wooden floors, and that this place was in no condition for anyone to live in.
I never had my own room before, only living in Cyrus‘ wardrobe at night. Later on, I was kicked out because Emily didn’t want me to sleep in the same room as Cyrus. With fake pity, she had the maids arrange for me to stay in the basement instead.
There wasn’t any furniture or any blankets in the room, so Cyrus laid on the floor to imagine the kind of life I had endured.
Meanwhile, Emily had just woken up after giving birth, and was demanding to see Cyrus. A maid searched the entirety of the estate before finding him in the dark,
narrow basement.
Frightened out of her mind, she kneeled immediately. “Why are you in this place, Alpha King? Emily wants to see you!”
Cyrus looked up at her, his eyes dark and filled with cold intensity. “Were you the one who put Marina in this place?”
The maid was so terrified that she could barely breathe. “E–Emily said that a dark and damp place like this suited merfolk…”
Her voice became lower and lower, feeling the rage radiating off the werewolf in front of her.
Cyrus‘ presence as an Alpha pressed heavily on her like a giant rock, and she couldn’t even maintain a kneeling position
fear.
Cyrus pushed himself off the floor, his hands covered in moss and mold.
A glint of murderous rage flickered in his eyes, and he let out a chilling laugh.
