I acted quickly. I shared my clothing receipts with the group, and the reactions were instant, like igniting a fuse.
‘The shirt and skirt cost a total of $3000. Did you pay in cash or by credit card?”
Under everyone’s watchful eyes, Sophie, red–faced and furious, completely lost it.
“I know why you’re targeting me!” she screamed, her voice shaking with rage. “You’re scared I’ll expose how you almost got sold to human
traffickers because of your online relationship, and that’s why you’re always trying to cause trouble for me!”
I couldn’t believe my ears. I really hadn’t expected someone to be this audacious.
She feared that her dark history of almost being trafficked while acting as a ‘foreign bitch‘ would be exposed.§
But now she even tried to pin the blame on me?!!
“Sophie, if it weren’t for Megan dealing with those human traffickers, we wouldn’t even be alive right now,” Rachel retorted.“]
“You need a conscience,” Whitney added, her voice firm. “How can you say such things about Megan?”
Then Rachel added, “If it weren’t for your reckless online relationship, we wouldn’t have ended up in this mess.”
Whitney and Rachel were on my side, and it didn’t take long before the rest of the class started chiming in.
Even Zeke, the ever–loyal lackey, hesitated for a second. “Is what they’re saying true, Sophie?“}
I expected Sophie to back off, but to my surprise, she just dug in deeper, accusing me even more forcefully.§]
“Megan, how much did you pay these two to betray me? I was the one who initially uncovered the human traffickers. Not only did you take my credit, but now you’re defaming me in front of everyone!”
She furrowed her brows, feigning sincerity, and said with a dramatic sigh, “We’re best friends, and I won’t hold it against you but don’t push me too far!”
Unaware, a few classmates, the naïve ones, were swayed by her, and they turned their anger on me.“]
Rachel, who had been disgusted with Sophie since the whole assault mess, was now shaking with fury. “You’re still lying!“}
In a fit of rage, Rachel threw more than ten photos into the class group.
Some showed Sophie in a drunken, messy state in the suite, while others were screenshots of her spreading lies about my family’s hotel.
Adrián took those photos with Rachel’s phone that day, and they were kept as proof.
The class stared at the photos of Sophie, half–naked, straddling Adrián.
The room went wild.
“You filthy bitch! I spent all that money on you, and I didn’t even get to touch you, but you go off with some foreign guy like a slut!” Zeke’s face turned an odd mix of red and white.
Before anyone could react, he jumped up and slapped Sophie in the face.
Sophie covered her face, screaming at the top of her lungs, “You just edited these to set me up!“}]
But no one was buying her excuses. Then, one of our classmates noticed the red spots on Sophie’s legs in the video.
Since her family owned a clinic, she pointed at the photo and said, “That’s textbook syphilis right there!“}}
Right there, the room fell completely silent.
Sophie, who used to be the center of attention, was now the subject of ridicule. She was a pariah, and everyone avoided her like the plague.
Fuming with anger, Sophie glared at me and lunged at me, trying to choke me. “It’s your fault! If you hadn’t delayed my trip with Adrián, I’d be a rich wife by now!”
I shoved her away with ease. “Oh, please, Sophie! If you’d gone with that man, you’d probably be dead by now, buried six feet under!“}]
Sophie cried and threw a fit in the classroom, but a few of the guys, like bouncers, just tossed her out. Her photos kept spreading, and before long, everyone at school knew about Sophie’s scandalous behavior.
People started talking about how her syphilis might have spread, and they kept their distance from her out of fear.D
