His consciousness became more apparent and calmer when the wind blew Hillary said that she loved him and would not leave him. So, he gave up contacting Hillary and called his parents but learned that Hillary had already resigned from Cook Enterprise.
The more panicked he felt, the calmer his expression became. He sank his face and slowly drove while
contacting everyone, but learned that Hillary had not appeared since that night
She must be staying at home. He went to the house where they got married and strode into her room but
found that the room was as clean as if no one had lived there and even the things that belonged to Hillary had
disappeared
Julian’s fingers clenched into fists, his knuckles turning white. His face tightened, disbelief flashing in his dark eyes. “Hillary would never leave me. No, that’s impossible.”
He approached Hillary in the first place because he knew that she loved him and even secretly kept his photo’s behind his back. How could such Hillary leave him? No, this must be a trick. She must be playing hard to get because
he didn’t show up at the banquet. Right?
At this moment, Julian still didn’t realize that love could one day be completely exhausted. He didn’t dare to overthink and immediately tried to contact Hillary’s parents, only to find out that he had been blocked
His expression froze, disbelief filling his eyes, Gritting his teeth, he quickly regained his composure and tried calling Hillary from another number, but no one answered. When he called Hillary’s parents, it showed that the call was connected. His face darkened and he said in a deep voice, “Hello, Dad, I want to know where Hillary is
Before he could finish, he was met with a cold laugh, followed by the abrupt disconnection of the call. A surge of fury welled up inside Julian, but he refused to give up. He kept switching numbers and calling repeatedly. After dozens of attempts, the call was finally answered again. His voice was restrained and emotionless as he said, “Dad, I just want to know where Hillary is.”
Hillary’s father was so enraged that he pounded his chest and stomped his feet, cursing directly, “You still have the nerve to ask about my daughter? If it weren’t for her insisting on marrying you, do you think I would have ever agreed to let her be with you? You never cherished her and now you dare come looking for her? Get lost!”
The call was cut off again. Julian clenched his fists tightly, his dark eyes filled with menace. Though seething with anger, he didn’t stop. Instead, he dialed Hillary’s mother. He remembered her as a kind woman. The call connected, but her voice carried a faint chill. “Julian, Hillary didn’t tell us where she went either.”
Julian didn’t believe it, Hillary was known for being a filial daughter. How could she have left without informing her family? His tone turned cold. “You’re her mother. Out of respect, I call you ‘Mom‘ but Hillary is my wife. You have no right to hide her whereabouts from me.”
Hearing this, Hillary’s mother chuckled coldly. “Julian, why are you looking for Hillary?”
Julian’s fists tightened. His lips pressed into a hard line, but he said nothing. On the other end, Hilary’s mother continued, “Over the years, your entanglement with Willow Scott has caused repeated conflicts between our families. Not only was Hillary criticized by others, but she also bore the burden of both families‘ pressures. Now that she’s finally figured things out, why are you trying to find her?”
Julian lowered his gaze, his expression dark and unreadable. His voice was hoarse as he said, “Mom, there are
ᄆ
things I need to explain to her. Can you tell me where she is?”
A sigh came from the other end. “Hillary didn’t tell us either. I think she doesn’t want anyone to find her. She may seem gentle, but she’s incredibly strong–willed. Once she’s made up her mind, no one can change it. Also, you are already divorced, so you don’t need to call me Mom anymore. Moreover, I have already called the police about Willow hiring someone to harm my daughter.”
After speaking, the call was hung up. This time, Julian did not call back. His expression was stunned and his expression completely turned cold, “Harm? What harm?”
He picked up his phone and ordered an investigation. Half an hour later, the latest news reports appeared before him. One of the pictures showed Hillary’s eyes filled with horror as someone yanked her hair into place. Seeing this, Julian fixated on the hand gripping her hair. A violent urge surged within him–he wanted to sever that hand from its
owner
Then, his gaze froze on the wounds on her face. His expression stiffened as he recalled the night he had taken Hillary to the bar. He had left early because of Willow and Hillary hadn’t been home for days afterward. Back then, he thought she was simply throwing a tantrum. Annoyed, he had chosen not to look for her
It wasn’t until she came back not long ago that Willow told him that Charles had instigated her to find some girls to teach Hillary a lesson. At that time, he didn’t take it seriously. After all, what could a few girls do?
He hadn’t taken it seriously until Hillary reported the incident to the police, not only hitting Willow but also suing her. Even then, Julian had found the whole thing exasperating, dismissing it as a trivial matter.
The things he never expected that the people Willow sent were not women but a dozen men. He couldn’t imagine what Hillary had encountered that day and he even stood by Willow’s side, preventing Hillary from calling the police.
Julian’s heart ached when he thought of it. His eyes were bloodshot as he clenched his fists. He couldn’t control himself any longer and overturned the table, smashing everything in the room, Shards of glass scattered across the floor and a priceless porcelain vase shattered into fragments Julian’s face was twisted in fury, his hands bleeding freely from the cuts. The bloody smell filled the air, shocking his mind back to clarity
His gaze darkened. He picked up his phone and made another call, his voice low and icy. “Have you found her
yet?
The man on the other end spoke cautiously, “Sir, there’s still no news of Madam”
Julian took a deep breath, his voice laced with suppressed fury. “Get these reports wiped from the internet within ten minutes and bring Willow to me.”
After hanging up, he pressed a hand against his chest. His dark eyes were filled with an ominous chill. Clenching his teeth, he spat out, “Great, Hillary Jones. Run as far as you can. I hope you never come back.”
He thought that venting his anger would bring him relief. Yet, the pain in his heart only intensified. His gaze fell on the reports again. Staring at Hillary’s terrified expression, his eyes grew colder. He uttered in an icy tone, “Willow Scott, you’ve got some nerve.”
