Hillary silently pushed his hand away. “Julian, if you continue to pursue me, you’re only demeaning yourself.”
Her words shattered Julian’s pretense. His expression faltered and his face no longer able to maintain its Consure. It was clear that Hillary was a soft–hearted person, so how could she be so cruel?
Pain flickered in Julian’s eyes. He shut them for a moment, suppressing his emotions before looking at her with a bitter smile. “Hillary, I was never this cruel to you!
His voice trembled toward the end, but Hillary didn’t spare him another glance. Instead, she turned away, raising her wine glass as she continued her discussion with Simon Sullivan, a business partner
That evening, she and Simon had a pleasant conversation. As they walked out of the banquet hall, the man suddenly wrapped an arm around her waist, refusing to let go. With graying hair and a predatory gleam in his eyes,
he stared at her hungrily. “Ms. Jones, you probably didn’t eat much at the banquet. Why don’t we spend some more time together and get to know each other better?”
Hillary had encountered all kinds of people before. Her expression remained calm. “Mr. Sullivan, if you want to take me away, you might need to ask my bodyguards for permission first.”
Simon’s face froze. The next second, Julian’s fist landed squarely on his face. He was about to throw another
punch when Hillary stepped in to stop him. Julian was furious and wanted to beat the man to a pulp. When he was stopped, he turned back to Hillary in a fit of anger. “Why are you stopping me? Aren’t you angry that this old lecher is
taking advantage of you?”
Hillary ignored him. The black–clad bodyguards hiding in the shadow received her order and swiftly subdued the man on the ground. Meanwhile, the others stood behind her. Dressed in a sleek black gown, Hillary exuded an icy aura. Years of experience abroad had sharpened her presence, making her cold and untouchable. She calmly pulled Julian aside. “I stopped you because I have bodyguards. I don’t need you.”
After that, Hillary looked down at the disheveled Simon on the ground and sighed softly. “Mr. Sullivan, it seems our cooperation will have to be canceled.”
Then, she sent the embarrassed Simon directly to the police station. Julian’s heart ached when he saw her that way. His breath hitched for a moment.
Was this really the same Hillary Jones he used to know? She had once been so gentle. Now, she was cold and distant. Yet, he didn’t feel repulsed. Instead, his gaze was glued to her, utterly captivated by this version of woman.
He would never let Hillary go, absolutely not! Even if she loathed him, he would not leave. To this end, Julian sought out a relationship expert to guide him. This whole incident only fueled his resolve. He seemed to forget everything from the past. Once, he had dismissed love as meaningless, but now, he was like a diligent student, studying it seriously.
Compared to his eagerness, Hillary was incredibly annoyed by him. Ever since she learned that Julian sent the flowers, the manor received various bouquets every day. At this moment, the old gardener brought another bunch of vibrant red roses. “Ms. Jones, these are addressed to you.”
No Longer Your Subs Lovely and
A card was tucked into the bouquet, bearing Julian’s handwriting. “Hillary, I won’t be deterred by your words. Your used to like me. Now it’s my turn to pursue you.”
Hillary’s feelings were indescribable after reading the card. She put down the flowers and softly said to the old gardener, “These are harassing letters. Throw them away directly next time, in the trash can by the gate.”
All the flowers delivered in the past few days were thrown into the trash can. Hillary didn’t know if Julian saw it, but soon she stopped receiving flowers. She thought it was effective that Julian would give up after being treated like this. However, she then received a phone call. “Ms. Jones, thank you for donating the dolls. The children are thrilled…”
Someone had sent several truckloads of dolls to the children in the countryside in her name. Not only that, but they also purchased countless books and donated a lot of money to help these children, all in her name.
Without thinking. Hillary knew that Julian was behind this. For several days in a row, she received thank–you calls. She could no longer bear it and arranged to meet him for a talk. The man beamed when he saw her, his eyes filled with joy. “I knew you would see me.”
