Chapter 24 Just One Night
Martha marched forward and stared at Stella.
“Answer me,” she demanded. “How did you contact Jerry when you were stuck in the toilet stall?”
Stella ignored her and turned to leave.
Martha was angered by her behavior. She reached forward and yanked the jacket off of her shoulders. “Are you feeling starved for affection again? It’s amazing how you can seduce men in every situation possible!”
Stella had enough of her constant mockery. She bent over to pick up the jacket and smirked. “Please feel free to raise your voice even further, Ms. Nord. For your information, I think Mr. Parker is still nearby.”
Martha immediately stopped yelling. She nervously glanced out of the glass door and continued in a hushed voice, “Explain yourself. Why was Jerry with you?”
Stella said, “I was stranded in the bathroom. You said you’d come over to help me but you never showed up. You even got someone to hang up an ‘under maintenance‘ sign! Didn’t you do all of that to put me in a difficult situation?”
Fortunately for Stella, she heard the cleaning lady’s footsteps and managed to ask her for help. Otherwise, she would’ve been stuck in that toilet stall for good.
Martha didn’t feel guilty about what she did at all. She snarled. “So what if I did? I should’ve asked the hospital to close off the entire bathroom and bar people from going in there!”

Martha thought Stella would be stuck in that toilet for quite some time. She didn’t expect her to come up managed to run into Jeremy.
Stella glared at her and scoffed. “Instead of wondering how I managed to get out, maybe you should think about how to explain this to Jeremy when night comes.”
Stella was wearing a face mask when she ran into Jeremy, but she wasn’t dressed like she usually was. When the pair made eye contact, he had a strange expression on his face. It felt as though he’d figured something out.
Stella was obligated to sleep with him, but she wasn’t responsible for cleaning up Martha’s mess. She was still wearing blood–stained clothes. Hence, after she finished talking, she headed upstairs.
The more Martha thought about the matter, the angrier she became. Why would Jeremy pay a maid so much attention? Stella must’ve shamelessly seduced him in order to make him realize that something was amiss.
As Stella walked up the stairs, Martha stared at her slender figure with envy while she caressed her belly.
She’s nothing but a broke college student, she thought with disdain. How dare she make threats with a face like that? Who does she think she is, anyway?
Martha thought that swapping out Alison’s medication wasn’t enough. She needed to make Stella pay. She had to think of something that would stop her from being so cocky.
In the maid’s room, Stella took off her blood–stained clothes and took a warm shower.
The bathroom fogged up as she stood underneath the running water. She squinted her eyes and recalled how flustered she felt when she ran into Jeremy.
Stella had asked the cleaning lady to buy her a pack of sanitary pads, but she still felt uncomfortable after she put one on
Her jeans were solled. The patch of blood was relatively small, but it felt very sticky.
She was just about to take a cab back to the Parker residence when she unexpectedly ran into Jeremy outside of the hospital.
He wasn’t alone. When Stella caught sight of him from a distance away, she instinctively turned her back toward him.
When Jeremy glanced her way, she knew that she couldn’t run from him, so she mustered up her courage to face him after she hastily put her face mask back on. Despite that, Stella still wasn’t sure if Jeremy saw her face. puther
Noticing how flustered she looked, he tossed her his jacket without saying anything. Then, he asked his driver to send her back to the residence. He didn’t speak to her throughout the entire ride home.
She had no idea what was going on inside his mind. Once he dropped her house. She didn’t even dare to look back

After she finished showering, she let out a huge sigh. She needed to fulfill her end of the contract agreement and leave the Parker residence as soon as possible to prevent any further complications.
After having lunch, Martha returned to her bedroom. She was just about to take an afternoon nap when she received a call from Bernice. The latter was probably calling to talk about the matter with Frank.
“Hi, Mom. Has everything been dealt with? Martha picked up the call and asked slightly enthusiastically..
To her surprise, Bernice didn’t reply immediately. After a brief pause, she said, “It’s more complicated than we thought.”
Martha froze. “You told me you’ll help me get rid of him! You can’t just go back on your word.”
“If that was an option, I would’ve gotten rid of him already. Unfortunately, he still has the video from the night you two spent together. If we drive him into a corner, he might leak the footage. That won’t do any of us any good.” Bernice sounded slightly annoyed.
Martha couldn’t believe what she was hearing. She exclaimed, “What? That night was an accident! How on earth does he have a video?”
“That’s just the way it is now. There’s nothing we can do about it at this point.” Bernice was extremely frustrated as well. Whatever that happened that night was a mistake, but she didn’t expect that incident to lead to so many other problems.
Because of what happened, Martha was pregnant. On top of that, Frank managed to obtain something he could use against her.
“Frank also said he wants to see you
you, Martha,” Bernice added.
Martha was about to go mad. She grabbed a bolster pillow from her bed and threw it at the door.
“No I refuse to meet with him!” she yelled hysterically.
“He has leverage over us, Martha. What if we piss him off and he decides to leak the video?” Bernice said.
Then, she softened her tone and continued, “I could tell that he wants to be with you. Why don’t you just pay him a visit? If you manage to talk him out of it, Jeremy won’t ever find out about this.”
Immediately afterward, Frank sent Martha an address. He wanted to meet her at a hotel.
Martha felt distressed. Pressured into making a decision, she ended up agreeing to meet with him. “Okay I’ll go see him ”
In the evening. Martha put on a face mask and left the house. Then, she took a cab to the hotel
Once she located the correct hotel room, she knocked on the door impatiently. Moments later, the door opened and she was immediately pulled into the room.
The atmosphere of the hotel made her feel uneasy.
She sat far away from Frank and asked, “What do you want? Is it money that you want? Or did you want to strike up a deal of some kind?”
Frank was clearly intoxicated. He was slurring his words. “I just want you to spend the night with me.

Martha gritted her teeth and got up to leave. She barked, “What kind of person do you think I am? I’m Jeremy Parker’s wife. I’m off- limits!”
Frank’s cheeks were flushed, and he grabbed onto her arm with a smile. “I know who you are. Sleeping with Mr. Parker’s wife sounds even more thrilling to me.

“I’m way out of your league. Look at yourself! Even if I wasn’t married to him, there’s no way I’d be dating you!” Martha spat.
Frank dragged her to the sofa and started to choke her. “You’re right. You’re way out of my league. However, despite that, we slept together anyway. I even have a video of the entire thing. Do you want to see it?”
“You bastard–Martha struggled against his hold
He didn’t care about how she was berating him. In fact, it only excited him even more. “Spend the night with me, and I’ll make sure the video never sees the light of day. You just got married. What if he divorces you because of this?”
Martha froze. Someone else came to her mind.
She wasn’t completely out of options. She still had Stella at her disposal. If the worst were to happen, she could just ask her to sleep with Frank instead.
She suddenly stopped fighting back.
“Do you really mean that?” she asked.
